Javanese cat or javanese is considered quite popular breed. This animal is characterized by oriental features and playful character.

History of origin

Homeland Javanese cat is considered the north of America. The breed was bred as a result of the experiment of young scientists: M. Davis and E. Sendner. The aim of the women’s work was to breed a cat that will have an external similarity with the Oriental, as well as a long coat dyed with point shades. In 1978, they crossed representatives of the Siamese breed with Balinese cats. The result of painstaking work was the birth of babies with long fluffy wool and Siamese breed color.

In 1979, Javanez was officially registered. To date, the Javanese cat has been recognized by many international phenological organizations, including WCF and FIFe.

Character traits

Javanese cats are characterized by a strong attachment to their owners. They like not to lose sight of the owner and not to move away from him. The animal prefers to be close to the person during sleep, and often sit on his hands. This pet is not as noisy as the Siamese, however, there is just as much stubbornness in it. The cat constantly wants attention to itself, and also shows a desire for universal control.

Javanese is distinguished by intelligence, dexterity and sportiness. Kittens love to play and climb trees and a scraper. An adult pet can be taught to walk on a leash, as well as perform some tricks. So that the animal does not make a mess in the house, it is worth doing something or a toy. This breed of cats is not suitable for pedantic and calm people.

It is painful for Javanese cats to be lonely, therefore it is recommended to start several pets at once. This breed is considered one of the kindest in the world. It is common for a cat to quickly find a common language with all family members.

In relation to children, animals do not show aggression.

Color options

Unlike Balinese cats, javanezes are usually colored with point shades. Long and painstaking work of scientists brought the animal with the following possible colors.

  • Solid color point, located on the main white color. Such coloring can have the most different shades, for example, light smoky, silver, red or cream with a pink nose, color of cinnamon with a beige nose, and also a faun with a gentle pink nose.
  • Lynx Point. This type of color can have a variety of options, ranging from blue to tortie.
  • Party color point may have various staining combinations.

Conditions of detention

Since yavanez is an animal with a rather active lifestyle, its habitat should be spacious. That is, if you have a small apartment, then it is better to refuse a pet of this breed. The ideal option can be called a country house, because it is there that the cat will have a lot of space for entertainment. They carry the cramping is not very good, but there are exceptions to this rule. In this case, the owner should be prepared for the fact that the animal will touch even prohibited items.

If there is such a possibility, then it is worth walking the Javanese cat as often as possible. For such procedures, a leash and harness should be purchased in advance. This breed of cats like games in the fresh air, they are good to carry on their hands.

The owner should take care of the pet from aggression on the part of unfamiliar cats and dogs, as this can result in a traumatic outcome.

With regard to care, these cats are undemanding, so there are no problems with them. Some difficulties may be with the pet's coat, as it will be constantly monitored. The properties and structure of the fur of a Javanese cat contribute to the ease of care. Animals do not have undercoat, their fur coat is characterized by silkiness and thinness. That is why combing a cat is enough every 7 days.

Water gives the Javanese breed feelings of fear, so they are negative about bathing. It is not necessary to bathe such an animal more than once a year, as the cat independently copes with this task. If, after all, it was decided to take a bathing cat, you should use Special zoological shampoo, which is designed for fine-haired pets.

Since curious javanese have large ears, they often collect dirt. Therefore, the shells of the animal must be cleaned several times a week, while using a cotton pad dipped in hydrogen peroxide or a special tool. It is worth wiping your eyes every morning. To this end, used cotton swabs moistened in boiled water. A good option would be the use of decoctions of herbs, for example, chamomile, calendula.

Shrinking the claws of a Javanese cat is required several times a month. The owner should get special scissors for this procedure. In order for a cat to be able to remove horny nail plates on its own, it will need a high-quality kogtetochka. And so that the pet does not have problems with teeth and gums, the owner should perform hygiene procedures in the cat's mouth every 7 days. The best option for these events will be a paste that does not require rinsing, and a small soft brush.

Any tray is suitable as a toilet, as the cat has no special requirements in this regard. The filler should also be selected at its own discretion.

Feeding

In feeding a Javanese cat, two rules should be followed:

  • use only fresh food and high-quality food;
  • Do not bring the animal to overfeeding.

    This breed of cats, like its sister Himalayan, has a tendency to overeat and suffer from this obesity. The kittens are characterized by high activity, so they often spend almost the entire supply of vitamin B, which may cause its shortage.

    The owner of the baby should add to the main ration of the kitten an eighth of a teaspoon of brewer's yeast.

    To pet's coat looked beautiful, it is better for a javanese to give balanced feed, in which there are amino acids and zinc. The whimsicalness of this animal regarding nutrition was not noticed, however, it is worth feeding it correctly. The best option for a pet will be dry premium industrial food. Fish feed of this breed is not suitable, since from it the wool can become dull and dark.

    The best foods for adults can be called the following:

    • Royal Canin Indoor - This is a French premium product;
    • Acana Grasslands - Canadian Holistic;
    • Summit Original Indoor Cat Recipe - Canadian super premium product;

    • Go! Natural Chicken, Turkey + Duck Recipe - Canadian holistic.

    If the owner of a Javanese cat prefers natural products for feeding the pet, then he should remember that it is prohibited to mix them with store food. The basis of the diet of the animal should be meat, because it contains essential amino acids. The menu may consist of the following products:

    • beef in the form of by-products and muscular tissue;
    • chicken;
    • rice, buckwheat, oatmeal;
    • vegetables, greens, with the exception of potatoes, onions, herbs;
    • cottage cheese, kefir, sour milk;
    • a raw egg.

    The daily percentage of protein in food should not exceed 60 percent, otherwise the quality of the animal's coat may suffer. In turn, fat should be no more than 30 percent. Egg yolk, oil of vegetable or animal origin can be added to the cat food. Carbohydrates should be the least. Getting vitamins comes from the consumption of vegetables and dairy products.

    Breeding

    In Russia, this breed of cats is not very popular. The greatest distribution is observed in America, Canada. The breeding of this animal is practiced in the nursery, the main focus of which is the Balinese and Oriental breed.

    To breed cats independently is a very laborious business, and it will be very difficult to implement it. The breeder will need to get an appropriate education, open a nursery, purchase animals, and participate in exhibitions for admission to the mating. It is just not possible to breed Javanese, in the conditions of an apartment or a house.

    The Java cat is an animal that has a good and non-aggressive nature, it is playful and very loyal to man. By bringing such a resident to the house, you can get a smart friend for adults and children.
