Fur things, be it a fur coat or a collar, are cozy and attractive, they warm us in the cold season, give joyful emotions, decorate and allow each girl to feel irresistible. At the time of our grandmothers, chic fur products did not lose their luster over the years, but in the modern city the fur becomes dirty very quickly, which is associated with a complex ecology and the presence of a mass of impurities in the air. Fur, which has lost its appearance, can be dry-cleaned or cleaned at home.

Material Features

Cleaning the fur is necessary in order to rid the natural fibers of abrasive (dust and dirt), which is deposited on them and is absorbed into the natural oils covering each villus. At the same time, the long-term presence of contaminants can lead to the abrasion of fur and truly disastrous results in the form of bald patches and bald patches. That is why furriers recommend cleaning the fur at least once a year, preferably in the summer, when things are not in demand for socks.

In cases where the owner of the fur smokes, it is necessary to purge the fur in the middle of the winter season. Regular cleaning with proper methods and proper care can really help prolong the life of fur items.

How exactly you can clean the fur at home depends on its type and category. The product can be made of smooth or fluffy fur, for example, a fur coat can be made from a seal or from a mink. Accordingly, the ways of cleaning such things will be different. Among the furs emit long-hair, for example. raccoon, silver fox, red fox, lynx and arctic fox, requiring a slightly different approach to reading than short-haired fur, such as mink or beaver.

Another significant difference is the value of the item. Cleaning a rabbit fur coat or nutria and a sable fur coat also requires a different approach, at least for practical reasons.

What can you clean?

Some experienced housewives recommend cleaning fur products with ammonia or hydrogen peroxide. Perhaps, at the time of our grandmothers, these funds were quite effective, but in modern conditions they have little effect, since the chemical composition of the mud in the modern urbanized world becomes richer from day to day.

Also vary and means of manufacture of furs, for this purpose apply potent emulsion, which partially remain in the finished product and can enter into a chemical reaction with ammonia and peroxide, making the pile dry and brittle.

Therefore, modern furriers from all the old methods of cleaning recommend today only the use of salt. A similar method is suitable for inexpensive furs, for example, a rabbit, sheepskin or nutria, for cleaning which it is a pity to spend significant sums.

This method is to fill up very dirty fur with lots of salt (a fur coat can take up to a kilogram of this substance). Then the product is left for 12 hours, after which it is carefully knocked out. Along with the salt, dirt and debris accumulated in the fur. This method is simple and cheap and, at least, can not harm the fur product. But it will not help to return the original shine to the coat, although it will make it cleaner.

Experts do not recommend experimenting with various complex home-made formulations and recommend using either certified preparations or shampoos for humans or animals for cleaning and caring for expensive fur.

Today, in our country, the most famous cosmetics for fur care, which is called Biofur. These products are positioned by the manufacturer as a sparing and hypoallergenic means for the care and cleaning of natural furs.

Biofur is exposed to all kinds of pollution, ranging from street dirt to such complex stains as blood or traces of egg yolk. Biofur also eliminates unpleasant odor, shine and greasiness. This tool is suitable for all furs, including such expensive ones as sable or chinchilla fur, however it has a rather high price tag. The volume of the purchased bottles is enough to clean the mink coat-demi.

Biofur comes with 3 cleaning emulsions:

  1. Foam for cleaning especially dirty stains;
  2. Medium intensity cleaner;
  3. Fur restorer.

Also in the set is a brush for processing fur, comb, terry cloth, gloves and oilcloth.

The method of cleaning fur using Biofur:

  • Particularly strong impurities are treated with soap-foam, which is applied to the stains with a brush; while not rubbing too hard, so as not to destroy the structure of the pile;
  • Leave the product for 2-3 minutes for exposure, then wash it off with a wet wipe, while avoiding getting wet until the core;
  • Fully clean the surface of the coat by spraying the cleaner, and it is necessary to maintain a distance of 15 cm from the surface of the fur;
  • Leave the sprayed agent for 30 minutes for exposure, then rinse it off with a damp terry cloth, preventing the core from getting wet, because in this case it is possible to shrivel upon further drying;
  • After cleaning, the fur coat should either be spread out on a flat surface, or hanged on a mannequin; The use of a hair dryer in order to speed up the drying process is strictly prohibited, as it will lead to the deformation of the product.
  • During drying, the fur should be shaken and combed with the comb provided in the kit as often as possible.
  • Fully dried fur is treated with a spray, restoring its luster, after applying it is left for about 3 minutes, then removed with a wet wipe and again dried fur coat.

Quickly and properly clean the fur product will help such means as:

  1. Netbril-o concentrated cleansing emulsion (France);
  2. Means gloss finish / TCHB / TCSBB / Parva-cremie (Germany).

It is possible to apply such means to any and all furs, from Tuscany to Astrakhan fur.

The emulsion Netbril-o concentrated has a cost of 1290 rubles, the volume of the bottle is 250 ml. To use it should:

  1. Dilute with alcohol in the ratio of 1/3, it is best done in a blender.
  2. Apply to fur with a sponge.
  3. Leave the thing to dry in the straightened state, not forgetting to shake from time to time.

Gloss-finish / TCHB / TCSB / Parva-cremie created for quick cleaning of furs with a medium degree of pollution. In addition to cleaning, this tool is recommended to be applied as a topcoat that protects fur fibers from sticking of dirt, grease and moisture penetration.

In addition, the Glitter Finish / TCHB / TCSB / Parva-cremie emulsion can be used as an antistatic for long-haired furs, such as raccoon, silver fox or lynx furs. The cost of 250 ml is 1,300 rubles.

The use of this tool is quite capable of any girl:

  1. The emulsion is applied to the fur using a spray gun;
  2. The exposure time is 10 seconds;
  3. The fur is combed against the nap;
  4. The product is thoroughly shaken and hung out for drying on the bulk hangers.

In the event that the fur thing has strong dirt and greasy spots, dry cleaning with sawdust will help.However, you should not use conventional sawdust, which can be purchased at the construction of the sawmill. To clean the fur, special sorts of wood are required that do not emit sap, and even less tar, and have a soft texture that cannot damage the fur. Such sawdust, for example, Eso or Tore Cleancan be purchased for 750 rubles. The weight of one package of such sawdust is 400 g, this is enough for carrying out several cleaning procedures.

The method of cleaning fur using sawdust is suitable for all fur products, excluding the long-haired fur of Tuscany, the broad astrakhan fur, as well as the broadtail, as this may disturb the surface pattern.

Mode of application:

  1. It is necessary to saturate the filings with Netbril-o Concentrated emulsion, trying to create a soft, but not liquid gruel;
  2. The resulting product is rubbed into the fur, especially polluted places wipe several times;
  3. The maximum exposure time is 30 minutes, after which the sawdust must be removed by carefully shaking out the product;
  4. The wet product is laid out on a flat surface or hung on a mannequin for drying in a natural way;
  5. In the process of drying, the fur is combed and shaken to give it an attractive look.

How to wash?

The most simple for cleaning are small-sized furs, for example, a fur pompon on a hat that does not require any special treatment at all. It does not even need to be removed from the cap when washing, of course, in the case when washing is done manually.

For best results, you should use gel cleanser. To dry such a hat is best on a three-liter glass jar, turning it down the neck, so that the wool is not deformed. It is not recommended to carry out washing in the washing machine, since in this case the product will inevitably stretch and lose volume.

A small insert of fur, which is fastened to the lapel of a down jacket or jacket, can also be washed at home by hand with the use of gel products for wool, for example, brands "Weasel" or zoo shampoo. It is important to press the fur strip well every time after washing and rinsing. This can be done by folding it with a straw and then squeezing it by hand.

You can also squeeze a similar insert in the washing machine, pre-rolled it in any bulk material, for example, in an old towel. In this case, during the spin-off, the moisture will go from fur to fabric, as a result, the fur will dry faster.

For drying, the fur should be straightened, gently combed, laid on a soft base and periodically shaken all the time while it dries. The resulting fur edge may have a slightly stiff core (in the event that it was not well-carved), but this can be corrected by grinding it with fingers to a soft state.

The appearance of the fur will be at the same height and will look like new.

Furs of greater volume should not be washed in the literal sense of the word. It must be remembered that squeezing large items of natural fur in a washing machine is impossible because of the danger of their deformation. And when drying the soaked base of the fur (mezdra) in a natural way, it most often becomes similar to cardboard paper, ie, it becomes stiff and brittle. As a wash, you can perform surface treatment with foamed shampoo, while acting with the utmost care not to wet the core.

In the machine, you can wash the lining of the dirty fur coat, so that after cleaning the fur thing on the outside, make it clean and inside. After drying and ironing, the lining is installed on the thing either on its own or in the repair shop for fur products.

How to get rid of yellowness?

Often quite well-preserved light fur loses its attractiveness from the fact that it begins to turn yellow. This is typical of the fox, lynx and silver fox fur, as well as the lightened mink fur. To eliminate such unpleasant manifestations, a reducing agent from the Biofur series can be used.The manufacturer advises to process this reducing agent. once every three months, not waiting until yellowness appears on the product.

In the case when the light fur has already turned yellow, a tool such as Magic Snow can help. With its help, it will be possible to update the white fur of arctic fox, mink or light tips on silver fox fur. Its application is very simple and does not cause any difficulties.

Mode of application:

  1. Combine the product with a 1 to 4 solution of hydrogen peroxide, mix thoroughly, creating a uniform consistency;
  2. Hang the fur product on the hanger or spread out on the table, if you are processing the collar;
  3. Using a spray bottle, spray the composition onto the yellowed fur;
  4. Leave to dry completely, combing the fur and shaking from time to time.

Recommendations

In order that the fur product does not lose its attractiveness for a long time, you need to properly care for it. This is especially true for those cases when a fur coat or collar came under wet snow and began to look unattractive due to the stuck pile.

In this case, it is necessary immediately after returning home to thoroughly shake the fur to remove wet drops. Then it should be brushed with a special brush or a comb with sparse teeth and left on the hangers, without placing it in the closet until it is completely dry. From time to time you need to shake the fur again and comb. Due to this, the fur coat dries without creases, wrinkles and deformation.

Also important is the storage of fur products. In order for the dust not to settle on them at a time when they are in storage, fur coats, hats and collars must be removed in the covers. At the same time inside each cover should be a means for moths, and the length of the cover should be sufficient for the free location of the product.
