Pleated skirt is elegant and romantic attribute of women's wardrobe. It looks great on any shape and allows you to harmoniously combine it with many things. However, in order for the product to always look beautiful and attractive, it is necessary to properly care for it.

Washing Features

One of the main steps in the care of pleated skirts is washing.

The process has its own nuances and is carried out according to certain rules. Before you begin to wash the plisse, you need to hold a series of preparatory activities. To do this, put the skirt on a solid flat surface, smooth out all the folds and fold them according to the bends.

Then you should take a thin needle, thread a silk thread into it and sew each fold from the belt to the hem with large stitches. After the product must not be very tightly twisted and placed in a nylon stocking. In order to prevent the skirt from falling out of the improvised cover during the washing process, the end of the stocking should be tied.

It is recommended to wash the pleated skirt on hands, using liquid soap and conditioner. The temperature of the water in the pelvis should not exceed 40 degrees, otherwise the skirt can be severely deformed, and the folds straighten.

During the washing process, it is not recommended to strongly influence the product; in case of heavy contamination, it is better to leave it for 10 minutes in a soap solution. It is not recommended to keep corrugated things in water longer: this can lead to straightening of folds and will require taking urgent measures to re-form them.

After the thing is washed, you need to rinse it in several waters, adding air conditioning. Then you want to get a skirt out of the water and gently hang it in your belt. Pressing the product is not recommended. Before machine washing, the skirt is also stitched and placed in a nylon bag, after which it is scrolled using hand or delicate wash modes at low revs. Spin the product in a centrifuge is also strictly prohibited.

Ironing details

The method of ironing pleated skirts depends entirely on the materials from which they are made. So, it is better to iron a synthetic or wool model from the seamy side by putting wet gauze on top. However, before stripping the folds, you should familiarize yourself with the information on the label, since some things made of polyester are not recommended to be ironed in principle. In such a situation, you can do without a steamer and use the effect of a steam bath.

To do this, the corrugated skirt should be hung over the bathtub on a clothesline or coat hanger and turn on hot water for 15 minutes. The door to the room must be tightly closed. After the bathroom is filled with steam, you need to gently straighten each fold with wet hands and leave the product on a rope until it is completely dry. Everything is much simpler with wool models: they are well steamed through gauze, and their folds do not lose their original forms for a long time.

Chiffon products are considered to be the most difficult to iron and require special care and accuracy. This is due to the fact that a drop of water accidentally caught on the material will leave a stain behind it, which can only be removed by repeated washing. Ironing such products is recommended without using steam, without pressing the iron. After the chiffon corrugation will be ironed, it must be left alone for 10 minutes. During this time, the fabric will cool and take the desired shape.

Knitwear skirt often has a lining, which is twisted out and ironed separately when ironed. Iron knitted, as well as velveteen, models, you need from the front side through a damp cloth. However, it should not be too active to work with an iron, and the process of ironing of such fabrics should resemble steaming more than smoothing. After the thing is ironed, it should be hung on the belt on the rope and inspect all the folds. If you find problem areas with fuzzy bending lines, you need to correct the situation with a vertical steamer.

Silk models are ironed from the inside through gauze. Just as in the case of chiffon, it is impossible to prevent drops on the material. This can lead to burning of wet areas or to a change in color in these places.

Dermatinovuyu skirt should be ironed from the seamy side through wet gauze at an iron temperature of 35 degrees. Smoothing should be done carefully, barely touching the material, moving from the belt to the hem of the product. If there is a steam generator or a function of vertical steaming of an iron, then you can use them by holding the device at a distance of 10-15 cm from the product. The effect of the steam bath is also well straightens wrinkled folds on leatherette products. To do this, you need to hang the skirt over the bath, turn on the boiling water and manually straighten all the bends over the steam. In the same way you can straighten and crumpled tulle skirt, however, the time of her stay over the steam can be reduced to 5-7 minutes. The material is quite malleable and quickly takes the original form.

Wrinkle repair methods

Often, after a long sock or unsuccessful washing, the pleats on the pleating straighten, and the thing loses its former attractiveness. However, to throw such a product is not worth it, because there is an effective way to return her original look at home. To do this, rub on a large grater half a piece of soap and dissolve it in 1 liter of warm water. Then to the resulting composition, you must add egg white, 1 tbsp. l vinegar and 1 tsp. starch. All components need to be mixed well and put into this solution a soft cotton cloth or thick gauze.

While the material is in solution, the folded folds should be re-formed and bristled with thin thread with frequent stitches. Then the skirt should be spread out on an ironing board, previously covered with a dry, clean cloth, and straightened all the folds. Next, you need to slightly squeeze the soaked gauze and gently cover her skirt. After the folds are ready for ironing, you need to take a large sheet of paper, spread it over the gauze and start ironing.

Using a paper sheet is a prerequisite for performing this procedure. Otherwise, the egg white present in the solution will begin to adhere to the iron and quickly spoil the sole.

After all the damaged folds have been re-formed, you should remove the fabric with paper and leave the product on the board for complete drying. Then the skirt should be hung on a hanger or a rope and left for another couple of hours.

Careful handling and competent care for the pleated skirt significantly increase the service life of the product and allow it to retain its original appearance for a long time.
