Nowadays, wristwatches often act as a stylish accessory. But for those who are accustomed to navigate in time for them, it is already difficult to leave the house without fastening the wristwatch bracelet. Most devices are equipped with a battery, which gradually loses charge. It must be changed periodically.

Replacing the battery in hours

Mechanical watches require only regular platoon. Electronic devices in this regard more convenient. With a new battery, they work correctly for quite a long time. When a wristwatch begins to lag behind - this is the main signal that the charge is extinguished.

It is easy to find a battery and it is inexpensive, so many people decide to replace the element themselves. Before interfering with the mechanism of a wristwatch, you should familiarize yourself with some recommendations:

  1. Check if the product has expired. If not, then even to replace the battery, you must contact an authorized workshop. As soon as the integrity of the product is violated by an unauthorized person, the warranty is terminated. If a breakdown happens to them, you have to spend a lot of money on repairs.
  2. Make sure that the device does not work properly or has stopped due to a dead battery. Other causes related to the operation of the electronic mechanism may cause a malfunction. If according to calculations the battery is too early to change, then it is better to immediately contact a qualified master. Some models of quartz watches are equipped with the display system END OF LIFE ("End of Life"). If the back cover of the accessory has the abbreviation EOL, with the battery lowered, the second hand will jump through four positions.
  3. Try to replace the battery before the clock stops completely. Otherwise, the battery will start flowing and ruin the whole mechanism.

Battery selection

A new battery should ideally match the size of the previous one. If it turns out to be smaller, the contact will constantly retreat, which will lead to malfunctions. If more - then the case cover may not close, and the mechanism and dial is deformed.

Therefore, it is not necessary to immediately throw away the developed battery. With it you can come to the store, and the seller will help you choose the exact same.

The battery must be of high quality. Ideally, it should work from two to five years depending on the capacity, but the danger is not that it will quickly fade away. Inside the element, zinc and salts interact, and if the case is deformed or corroded, a defective product may leak. Most often this leads to the need for a complete replacement of the mechanism.

The latest generation of electronic watches RENATA and MAXELL have a special case design that prevents leakage.

Batteries should match not only in size, but also in charge capacity. It is listed on the case. But it should be remembered - the same battery capacity will not give any guarantees that the new battery will last as long as the previous one. If she lay in the warehouse for a long time, then the battery could easily have discharged itself. Unfortunately, there is no way to know how long she has to work.

The voltmeter will show the suitability of the battery, even if it has only a little work left to do.

On the side of the battery, which corresponds to the "plus", marked with the type of nutrient:

  • Salt. Suitable for any model of watches, it is inexpensive, but also serves not for long. When buying such a battery, special attention should be paid to the date of manufacture, since it can self-discharge by 10% in a year. The most significant disadvantage of this battery is that it is prone to leakage. Masters do not recommend using it for expensive watches.
  • Alkaline. The optimal combination of price and quality. It is inexpensive, serves up to one and a half years. But not as dangerous as saline.
  • Silver-zinc. One of the most expensive batteries. It has all the necessary advantages: it does not flow, it works for a long time, it self-discharges slightly. Battery type SR-MD - the most versatile of them. Suitable for any clockwork.
  • Lithium. It is also an expensive battery, but it will last at least three years. There are cases when a similar battery is discharged only after seven years of excellent work.

Tool

The workflow does not cause any trouble if there are special tools. But not every home there is a set of watch screwdrivers. Then come to the rescue improvised means. For example, a knife or a blade is useful for removing the cover.

Also in the nearest optics store, you can choose a set of screwdrivers for the repair of glasses, which are suitable for working with watches.

It will be much easier to unscrew the back wall if you remove the strap from the watch and hold the case in a vice.

The clamp should not be too strong so as not to damage the ears. Between the clock and the vice it is necessary to put a piece of soft cloth.

When replacing the battery yourself, you should never use metal tweezers. Such a tool shorts the poles, which leads to a loss of element capacity and significantly degrades the quality of its work. Tweezers must be plastic or with an insulated working part.

It is not recommended to take a battery by hand. Fingers leave marks that impair its contact with the clockwork.

Replacement method

Before disassembling the device, it is necessary to prepare the working environment. The clockwork consists of the smallest details. Even an imperceptible particle (dust, hair, dandruff, baby) can break the device.

Therefore, the table must first be wiped with a damp cloth, and then wipe dry thoroughly.

The surface of the table should not be too hard, otherwise after replacing the battery, the accessory will be completely scratched. Cover the table with white paper or tablecloth. So you can protect the jewelry from scratches, besides, on a light surface it is easy to find the dropped small parts.

On this basis, it is possible to pay attention to the conditions under which the specialists in the repair shops work. It is hardly possible to entrust an expensive accessory to an untidy person who works at a dirty table.

How to open the lid?

After being convinced of the need to replace the battery, the new battery was correctly selected and the workplace was prepared, you can start work. The most difficult thing is to open the lid without damaging the accessory and not to get hurt yourself.

The back of the case can be twisted or pressed.

If there are grooves around the cover, it is unscrewed. The easiest way to work is to adjust the caliper. Spread it across the width of the two opposite grooves and fix the tool. Gently rotate it counterclockwise several times. However, not everyone has a similar device at home and a special key. Then you can try to unscrew the cover with tweezers, whose ends are bent in the form of legs.

This form can be given independently.

Also, the back wall of the watch can be screwed with separate screws. To work with such a device, a special time screwdriver is suitable. First of all, it is necessary to unscrew the diametrically opposite screws, and then remove the rest in any order.

If the back panel is smooth, then it is pressed.Look carefully - there should be a slight indentation on the lid. Pick up the cover with a small knife or a thin screwdriver. Movement must be solid, but neat. Hold the watch tight so as not to break them.

Insert the battery

After the cover is removed, you should study and remember how the battery is attached. Most often it is clamped between two bars, one of which is movable. It is fastened with a screw. To rotate the bar, this screw must first be slightly loosened. After that, the bar can be easily turned off with a sharp object. As soon as the battery is not clamped by the bar, it will bounce due to the springy contact of the "minus".

After that, with the help of plastic tweezers, you need to carefully remove the old battery and insert a new one in the same way. It is important not to confuse the "plus" and "minus".

Before closing the lid, you need to make sure that the device is working.

The detailed process of replacing the battery in the clock is described in the following video:

Close the lid

Before you put in place the back of the watch, you should check the gasket on the lid. If it has deteriorated, then it must be treated with silicone to improve the tightness.

If the back panel is pressed, then it should be returned to its place, following some recommendations:

  1. Put the clock on the table face down, while putting a paper napkin, folded in several layers.
  2. On the cover there is a groove, which is combined with the axis of the wheel of the transfer of arrows. Make sure that all elements are neatly combined, and the lid lay as smooth as possible.
  3. To flatten the cover, take a flat wooden object and attach it to the back panel. The clock should close without difficulty. If there is a feeling that it is necessary to apply a little more force, it is better to make sure once again that the battery and the lid are set correctly.

The cover, which was unscrewed with a caliper, is screwed back in the same way.

Precautionary measures

Change the battery wristwatches at home is a snap. The main thing is to adhere to all the recommendations and be extremely careful. Then even the one who encounters this problem for the first time will cope with this task:

  1. Do not use the sharp tip of the knife. He will slip and hurt his hand. Also, the tip may break or buck. Then the knife will become worthless. Best used blade.
  2. With a knife you need to adhere to the same safety measures as when working with a chisel. Do not apply force to the knife if the other hand is opposite it. The arms should be in such a position that when the tool slips off, they are not on the path.
  3. Do not try to open the cover of expensive accessories. One careless action - and the decoration is spoiled. In this case, contact the jeweler.
  4. The device does not pass moisture due to seals and lubricant. Therefore, remove the back wall should be carefully so as not to damage the seals.
