On the jackets made of artificial leather quite often there are various irregularities, creases and dents; even the newest jackets, if not properly stored, can take on a rather unaesthetic look. However, it is not necessary to resort to dry cleaning services in order to smooth out a thing that has lost its original appearance. You can give them a second life, using a regular iron, hairdryer, steamer or shoe cream.

    Iron use

Dents on artificial leather are easily aligned under the influence of high temperatures, however, first you should carefully study the recommendations for the care of a thing, which, as a rule, are indicated on the label or on the label. If the heat treatment does not harm your thing, then, then you can safely use the following method.

    • To begin with, the jacket should be turned inside out, after which the towel is twisted with a tight roller and placed under the place that you are planning to smooth.
    • If you work with a thing that has a thin lining, then you should additionally cover the treated area with gauze or any cotton cloth.
    • The iron should be set to “Silk” or “Wool” mode and turn off the hot steam option.
    • The product is ironed without any pressure, but without long stops.
    • When a thing is smoothed, it should be turned back and kept on a hanger or mannequin for an hour - so it will better preserve its shape and appearance.
    • If you need to smooth out pockets or sleeves, then first you need to fill them with a cloth or napkins: so you can quickly give them the desired shape.
    • Many housewives discard the idea of ironing a jacket from kozhzam at home with an iron and it is completely in vain, because with proper handling of a thing you can quickly return its original look.

Important: keep in mind that this method is acceptable only for jackets on cotton or knitted basis, in the people such materials are called leatherette, and more recently it was distinguished by its vinyl leather.

      Use steam

This option is considered to be more benign than smoothing with an iron, although the latter will still be needed for such work. In addition, you should prepare a soft towel, as well as a mannequin.

To begin with, the jacket is hung on a prepared base or, in the absence of the latter, a hanger, the sleeves are filled with rollers and the iron is put in the “steaming” mode. The crumpled area is treated with hot steam at a distance of 10-15 cm before smoothing, and then left to dry for about half an hour.

Keep in mind that during smoothing it is impossible to touch the jacket with your hands, as in this case unaesthetic marks may remain.

Tip: first try to handle a small section of material in an inconspicuous place - this is necessary in order to make sure that the thing responds normally to the steaming.

Unfortunately, not every iron has the necessary function to steam a thing. In this case, things can be arranged “steam bath”: for this, the product is hanged (necessarily on hangers, above the bathroom, filled to the brim with hot water) above the steam. In such a “sauna” the product should be kept for at least 5 hours, then dried in a cool room.

Tip: the door to the bathroom at the time of processing should be kept closed, otherwise the air will cool and smoothing will not occur.

      Hot air

This is a very effective way to smooth even the strongest dents. You will be helped by a hairdryer, as well as a thin blanket and cotton scarf.

Inside, rumpled clothes are stuffed with a blanket, so the jacket will be better kept the necessary shape. The outlet of an ordinary hair dryer is covered with a moistened scarf and turned on to supply the most hot air.

Problem zones are treated at a distance of 25-35 cm, after which the product is left to cool.

      Use cold water

Water is considered the most gentle way of smoothing products from artificial leather. It does not spoil the structure of the material, but the effect is no less pronounced. You will need ordinary water, as well as hangers: it is advisable to take those that are slightly smaller than the size of the jacket, otherwise the sleeves may be drawn out during the processing and then the clothes will lose their shape.

Water should be poured into a spray bottle and sprayed well over the surface of the product.after which the item must be left for 10-14 hours. Keep in mind that during drying in the room there should absolutely be no drafts or temperature changes - they can all have the most adverse effect on the condition of the wet jacket.

Usually, after a specified time, all folds are smoothed by themselves.

If the creases are too strong, then it is advised to add a little glycerin or a water-repellent spray to the water - such ingredients soften the artificial skin and help to smooth it out as effectively as possible.

Some housewives use a little unusual way - in rainy or foggy weather they go out in mint clothes and walk for about an hour. This is an extreme method, but quite effective. In this case, the external environment moisturizes the jacket, and the warmth of the human body warms it. As a result, a so-called greenhouse effect is formed, thanks to which things are smoothed out naturally.

However, if you are prone to colds, then you should not abuse this method.

      Cream use

This option is called a mask, in this case, irregularities and creases on the leather substitute are easily cleaned with ordinary shoe cream: the product is only applied to the damaged area, thoroughly rubbed and left to dry.

Note: Shoe cream, as a rule, has a pronounced smell, so after the treatment it makes sense to take the clothes out onto the street or a balcony for a couple of hours.

      The use of multi-component composition

Quite a productive tool against ugly folds is a mixture of water, ordinary vinegar and a good fabric softener. All ingredients are taken in equal proportions and sprayed onto the jacket through a spray bottle.

Sometimes stains remain on the artificial leather - they are easily removed with a damp cloth.

      Recommendations for smoothing other products

In conclusion, we give several recommendations which will help to make other products of kozhzam smooth.

      • If you have crushed dermatinous upholstery on the furniture, then a wet sheet will help you. For a start, it is necessary to wet and squeeze in a washing machine, then cover the sofa so as to ensure maximum adhesion to the surface and leave until the final drying. Sheet should always be taken cotton and be surely white in color, otherwise it can shed and change the color of the upholstery material.
      • If you messed up your bag, you can use any of the suggested methods, the only difference is that you first need to stuff the cloth with paper towels, paper or gauze so that the leather is as tight as possible.
      • If, as a result of improper storage, a dermatinic skirt was crumpled, then you just need to wash it at 30 degrees in manual mode, and the number of revolutions should be set to the minimum. As soon as the washing is completed, the item should be removed from the drum, straightened and hung to dry on a hanger.

Keep in mind that if you leave a thing in a typewriter for at least a few minutes after finishing work, it will be remembered even more.
