All pets require attention and care. There are animals that do not deliver a lot of trouble and, if properly handled, will long delight their owners, for example, hamsters. They are of different breeds, and white hamsters with red eyes can please fans of the exotic.

Albino Hamster - what kind of beast?

Wildlife is not very suitable for snow white hamster - albino is vulnerable to predators. For breeders and breeders such a feature is of great interest. The albino wool and skin is devoid of coloring pigments. Because of the mutation, the eyes color of the animals is red: through a transparent iris (there is no melanin in it) a network of blood vessels is visible.

Mutation is not a disease, but it increases the susceptibility of albinos to stress. High-quality feeding, care and timely access to veterinarians - the key to a long life of a pet.

Kinds

Albino hamsters are not a separate species, but they can belong to any breed. The most common ones are described below.

  • Dzungarian hamster. His homeland is the steppes of South-West Russia. Unpretentious and friendly individuals are ideal for home maintenance, they are among the most popular breed for breeders with children. With careful handling do not show aggression, quickly get used to the owners, are able to recognize them. However, they can be aggressive towards their cell neighbors. Most active in the evening and at night.

Quickly explore the territory, stock up on food, willingly participate in entertainment (they play and run a lot in the wheel). Monosaccharides are harmful to them because of the risk of diabetes. On average, they live about 3 years.

  • Hamster "Campbell". This dwarf hairy hamster hails from the steppes of East and Central Asia. The duration of his life can reach 2 years. Campino albinos are characterized by heightened aggressiveness and often bite their hosts, sometimes they can only be reached with leather gloves. The content of unpretentious, suitable for breeders without small children.
  • Siberian (white Russian dwarf) hamster. Sociable representatives of the breed can easily find a common language with children. The length of their body reaches only 10 cm. These are silent animals that are easy to train.

Due to the increased activity of this individual requires a spacious cage with entertainment devices. With good care, home Siberian white hamster can live up to 4 years.

  • Syrian hamster. Widespread companion animals of this breed live from 2 to 4 years, grow up to 15 cm. Obedient, easily tamed individuals. They only get along badly with each other: even if there are no signs of aggression, animals experience stress when they do not live separately. These are social albinos - they require daily communication and become completely tame.
  • Another interesting but rare breed is hamster "Roborovskogo." These are incredibly fast moving individuals, social and very active. Their homeland is China and Mongolia. The smallest variety of albino hamsters is characterized by a body length of 5 cm. A breeder will need a cage with frequent rods and increased attention.

Hamsters "Roborovskogo" perfectly get along not only with the owners, but also with each other.

How to contain?

Mutations can make white hamsters with red eyes prone to skin diseases. Scab, versicolor, papillomas, dermatophytosis are common ailments, the course and treatment of which should be observed by a veterinarian.

Unusual eyes can become a weak spot — an albino cannot be kept in the availability of direct sunlight to avoid blindness, eye disease, and retinal damage. The skin of white hamsters is also vulnerable - even fluffy individuals are not immune from light burns and should be able to hide from the sun and bright light. The hamster cage should be located away from heating devices and in a place protected from drafts, but with good air circulation.

White albino wool requires special care. In the pet store you can buy sand, which is suitable for baths. Water and sand should be provided to the animal - it is not recommended to bathe them yourself, as a healthy animal is able to care for its cleanliness.

Albinos need solid food to grind down teeth that grow throughout life. You can buy special mineral stones. If the owner is confident in his skills, he can independently trim the claws of hamsters. They are also devoid of pigments and have a light color, so the procedure should be carried out with extreme caution.

What should be the house?

An albino cage is the place where he will spend most of his life. It, like the human home, should be divided into sectors. In his dwelling the albino will eat, retire and rest, go to the toilet and be active.

Litter

A fairly common option with newspapers and other paper is undesirable. Albinos tend to try the surrounding objects "to the tooth", and printing ink will not be useful to them.

At the same time, white hamsters with red eyes may be allergic to wood dust, so the option with clean and soft wipes without dyes can be the way out. Hay is good for bedding, which some hamsters even make with their delicacy.

A common and convenient option is sawdust (it is important to ensure that they do not have sharp chips and debris). They are not only harmful to the albino, but also absorb moisture and odors. Cleanliness in the cage is important, first of all, for the pet. Woody filler is one of the most popular and environmentally friendly options - it keeps odors for up to two weeks.

Convenient but expensive stuff - corn filler. It absorbs liquids as much as possible and maintains an excellent appearance.

Various fibrous materials for bedding are contraindicated - most often it is cotton wool and fabrics. They can get into the cheekbones of an albino, start rotting and cause inflammation. The threads are often wrapped around the paws of hamsters - this can result in loss of limbs.

All litter changes as it gets dirty. Toilet seat cleaned daily.

Different food and water containers

In order for the albino not to overturn the bowl with water, you can purchase a special drinker, which is attached to the bars of the cage. The owner of the animal should be closely monitored for its health and content.

It is necessary to clean containers for food and water without the use of chemicals - soda or tooth powder will do.

Items for activity

These include all kinds of running wheels, ladders and swings. Albinos lead an active life at night. The fewer opportunities for the owner to walk a hamster, the more conditions for the release of energy must be provided in the cage. At the same time you need to follow so that the legs of an albino are not stuck between the twigs or in the wheel.

It is necessary that the cell does not remain open when it is at a height. In hamsters, not everything is perfect with spatial thinking - the animal may attempt to escape, do not feel the distance to the floor and fall from a height.

Resting place

In pet stores special houses are sold, in which hamsters equip a berth with bedding. It is important to ensure that the hamster does not gnaw the house and did not try to swallow pieces of plastic or metal. Many hamsters are happy to rest in hanging hammocks.

What to feed?

An albino owner should not worry too much about his diet: the white hamster will eat the same as his relatives. Ready-made feeds based on wheat, oats and other grains, as well as sunflower seeds and pumpkin, corn, nuts, dried and fresh vegetables and fruits (carrots, beets, pears, raspberries, strawberries, peas, zucchini, apples) will work well. We should not forget about protein foods - an albino will enjoy eating boiled (but not fried) chicken and fish, eggs and shrimps.

Feed is given twice a day according to the weight and activity of the rodent. - for this you need to monitor and eliminate overeating in order to avoid obesity. Hamsters can and should be given vitamins, buy them stones with minerals.

Albinos should not be given citrus fruits, spicy and exotic foods, garlic, sweets. White cabbage is especially harmful for them; onions, salt, mushrooms are contraindicated.

Small sizes do not save animals from big problems. When they occur (lethargy, suspicion of infection, hair loss, refusal to eat and water, inability to cope with the growth of teeth) urgently need to contact a veterinarian.

If you treat the content of a hamster with a full awareness of responsibility, he will be the company for the longest time, delighting with activity and good mood.
