Burdock oil is obtained from burdock root or, as it is also called, burdock. The product is extremely popular and can be found in any pharmacy or cosmetic supermarket.

Required Ingredients

To make burdock oil at home, you need burdock root and oil base.

As for the root, it can be dry or fresh. The underground part of the plant, collected from April to May and from August to November, is suitable for the manufacture of an oily liquid. That is, in those months when the plant does not bloom, and all useful substances are concentrated in the root.

Use large, fleshy roots, with a thickness of 3 to 5 cm. It is important to collect them from a young plant, as it is more juicy and saturated with valuable elements, unlike two-year-olds.

To distinguish the young plant from the old, focus on the spines. Young animals do not have them at all.

If you plan to prepare the product from fresh root, then know that it should be used immediately after collection. It is not recommended to keep it for long.

After you have collected the raw materials, prepare them for cooking:

  • take the spine and select the fleshy part of it;
  • remove leaves and shoots;
  • thoroughly rinse the root with a brush to remove soil and other contaminants;
  • let it dry;
  • cut rotten, tainted parts.

Dry root is stored for a long time, but it is harvested in advance. To properly dry the burdock, take the cleaned, prepared raw material, cut it lengthwise into several parts, spread it on a matter that is well breathable. You can hang the roots.

Dry the raw materials in a dry and warm place near the battery or oven. Or place it directly in an oven heated to 45 °. It is also allowed to use electric dryers. If the root is dried properly, it will break easily. This product has a light pleasant aroma, and the taste is slightly sweet. Store it for 2 to 3 years in a dry, tightly closed container.

But if you still prefer to use fresh root at any time, freeze it. To do this, fold the crushed raw materials into hermetically sealed bags and place them in the freezer. Pre-roots must go through all stages of cleaning.

To defrost such a product should be a natural method, not flooding with water. This will prevent the destruction of important elements.

Olive, sunflower, sesame, almond and other cosmetic oils are used as an oil base.

As for the production product, it uses mineral oil. This is an oil product, but it is harmless to the body. Among its useful qualities emit moisturizing the dermis. It does not carry other valuable properties in itself, unlike natural oils.

Making burdock oil at home is not a big deal.

Recipe number 1

For the preparation of burdock oil need dry root and oil to your taste in a ratio of 1: 2, respectively:

Burdock leaves are also suitable for receiving burdock. To do this, they are crushed thoroughly, preferably with a blender, and filled with oil: 100 g of leaves are required for 200 ml of liquid. Mixture insist 2 days. After squeeze and boil for 25 minutes on low heat. Filter out.

Pour the finished oil into a glass jar with a tight lid. Keep it in a cool and dark place for no more than a year. An indicator of a poor-quality product is the change in smell and the appearance of bitterness.
