Patches can tell about our hobbies or world views

Stripes on clothes were not always just an element of style. Initially, the patch meant belonging to a specific occupation or group of people. Today, this function of stripes is often forgotten, and they are used only as a decoration or a way to hide defects on clothes.

However, there are spheres of life in which the stripes are given very great importance, since they serve as a means of transmitting information (this applies, for example, to security forces).

In this article we will tell you about the role of stripes in modern fashion, namely about the stripes on women's jackets. You will learn what are the stripes, how to sew them correctly and with what things you can combine jackets decorated with stripes.

Kinds

There is a huge amount of all kinds of stripes on clothes. They differ in application, shape and method of attachment.

The scope of use (or subject) can be divided into the following types of stripes:

  • military;
  • sports;
  • biker;
  • training;
  • corporate, etc.

Depending on the shape, these types of stripes are distinguished:

  • rounded;
  • rectangular;
  • figured;
  • in the form of a shield, etc.

If we talk about fashionable jackets, most of them are decorated with individual stripes that do not have any meaning and do not fall into any of the above categories. It can be abstract drawings, images of famous characters, animals, etc. - that is, such stripes perform an exclusively decorative function.

There are several possible ways of attaching stripes to clothes, for example:

  • sewing on;
  • velcro fastener;
  • gluing;
  • pin clip;
  • magnetic fastener;
  • mount on the key chain.

Stripes for jackets

Stripes are a great way to update an old denim or leather jacket. They can not only refresh and give a new charm to the already annoying things, but also serve as a patch that will not be evident. Consider the most interesting options for placing stripes on the jacket.

On the back

On the back of the jacket large stripes look best - this is the case when, instead of several small images, you should choose one big one. The girls are very popular stripes on the back in the form of wings, birds or felines.

On the chest

On the chest are usually placed stripes that carry important information, such as personal data, the name of the unit, etc. But, since we are not talking about service uniform, but about fashionable clothes, the stripes on the front of the jacket can be anything. Usually for this place choose small images.

Several small stripes grouped on the chest, united by a common theme, look great.

On the sleeves

Stripes on the sleeves are often extremely practical in nature - they strengthen the fabric in places most prone to abrasion - on elbows, cuffs, etc. Usually they are arranged symmetrically on two sleeves, but the images do not have to be the same. Best of all look small stripes with paired patterns.

Biker stripes

One of the largest communities that actively use clothing stripes is bikers. Biker jackets are full of images that can tell a lot about the owner of a motorcycle. In addition to belonging to a certain biker organization, stripes on a jacket can talk about the outlook of a motorcyclist.

How to sew?

Attaching a patch to a jacket is very easy - even if you have very little experience with a needle and thread, all the work will take no more than 30 minutes.

First, select the appropriate place for the patch. Then fix it with double-sided adhesive tape or safety pins - so the patch will not move away while we sew it. If you are afraid to perforate the patch, then you can simply circle it around the contour with a remnant or a washable marker.

Now we take a needle with a thread in the tone of the patch (or a contrast one - whatever we like) and begin to carefully sew the patch, folding the thread in half for durability.

At the end of the thread we tie a knot, which we hide in the first stitch under the patch. Sew on the patch is best with hidden stitches. Try to make stitches small and not very frequent. Having a circle, we make a loop around the last stitch, tighten the knot and hide it next to the first one. Now you can cut the thread and admire the work done.

What to wear?

Jackets stripes can be worn with a variety of things - it all depends on the style and style of the jacket and what is shown on the stripes. Almost all of these jackets go well with jeans, T-shirts, sneakers or high boots. Tight pants or short skirt will also harmonize well with the jacket, decorated with stripes.

Modern fashion is favorable to combinations of seemingly incompatible things. Therefore, romantic dresses, sundresses, light blouses and tops can be an excellent accompaniment to a leather or denim jacket with stripes.
