Josef Högel - one of the many children of poor Austrians - at the age of 14 went to his first job. He became an apprentice shoemaker who lived next door.
Having learned the basics, Joseph could not stop. This craft has penetrated deep into the soul of a teenager and has placed in him the hope of his own business. However, it was not possible to start it soon. Continuing to learn all the subtleties of the shoemaker profession, Högel traveled around the country, worked in a variety of shoe shops, learning from experience, honing his skills and looking for his own style.
In 1935, Högel acquires a small house in which he arranges his own production. He hired several workers to help himself, and began manual sewing of women's shoes. According to Joseph himself, only the most talented and creative personalities from all over Austria, who had not managed to snatch their piece of fame, but were very keen on this, worked with him.
Gradually, production expanded. Shoes were bought and gained popularity in narrow circles of the Austrian province.
During the Second World War, a talented artist was drafted into the army. He was able to continue his mastery only in 1943, on his return from the front. It was then that the real breakthrough and personal “economic miracle” of the Hogl brand began.
Diligence, perseverance and thirst for self-improvement. The small home workshop began to grow gradually and almost reached the size of a provincial factory, the company employed about 150 people.
