When you really want to have a dog, but apartment conditions do not allow, people get out of the situation by buying a dwarf puppy.

Pomeranian spitz is an excellent option for those who dream of a dog, but can not afford to have a large-sized animal.

Especially popular dwarf spitz white color.

Before you start a pet, you need to get acquainted with its description, find out what the character of the dog, and what is the care for her.

Origin

There is an assumption that the dwarf varieties of Spitz were born from peat dogs living in the Stone Age. The animals were nicknamed in honor of one of the German regions located on the Baltic coast.

In the middle of the XVIII century, work began on the breeding of the breed. The dog of the English Queen Victoria became the "father" of all oranges. In the course of a thoroughly elaborated selection, the breeders managed to achieve a compact size, as well as improve the appearance of the dog.

Foreign breeders became interested in the new breed and continued to work until a white dwarf spitz was born with soft, fluffy hair and short muzzle. In 1896, the ideal breed was born, and four years later the first official standard of dwarf Spitz was developed.

In Russia, these dogs first appeared in the 70s of the XIX century.

Breed description

Dwarf Spitz has a dry and strong body. External features of the breed combine elegance and strong muscles. The mini-pomeranian dog does not exceed 30 cm in length, and weighs 1-3 kg. Life expectancy of such a dog is 12-16 years.

A molt is characteristic of a miniature spitz, during which the color of the coat may change.

In this regard, when choosing a white puppy, you should pay attention not only to his parents, but also to grandparents. So, only snow-white dogs are selected for participation in exhibitions, therefore a dog with spots on the ears will not work.

Pure white spitz is very beautiful and solid looks, but his coat needs careful care.

The wool itself is fluffy, it does not fit the body. The length of the hairs is even greater in the area of the tail, collar and on the backs of the legs.

Other external features characteristic of pure white orange are:

  • shortened legs;
  • ring-shaped tail;
  • dark eyes, black eyelids;
  • triangular erect ears.

Character

White Pomeranian Spitz - curious and friendly dogs. They are happy to meet new people and animals and rarely show aggression towards strangers.

According to some people, dogs of this breed, by contrast, have a bad attitude to passersby, love to bar them in the street, but in fact this is not the way aggression manifests itself, but rather the natural instinct. After all, the ancestors of Spitz were watchdogs. And although in our time this breed is badly associated with the guard, the blood of pomeranians is left in the habit of barking passersby.

The problem with keeping a dog is the curiosity of the spitz. His interest in any innovations can lead to tragedy.

For example, an interesting form of stone, lying on the roadway, can attract a curious dog, which, becoming a victim of its curiosity, falls under the wheels of the car. Therefore, it is important to always walk the pet on a leash.

Such dogs are easy to train. In their souls, they are rather suspicious and love to please the owner, so they will be happy to show various acrobatic tricks in front of their owner. Breeding Spitz breeders' favorite method is to teach a dog to stand on its hind legs.

Spitz dogs can't stand loneliness. Even a few hours without a host, they are experiencing hard. It is more comfortable for a dog of this breed to be close to its owner, even in an unfamiliar place, than to stay at home alone. Therefore, when traveling on vacation, it is recommended to take a pet with you, especially since compact dimensions allow you to transport a pet without any problems.

Often, oranges become companions for lonely people. The dog quickly becomes attached to the owner.

It is not recommended to start a miniature spitz to families where young children are raised.

The fact is that this dog loves attention and does not tolerate carelessness. Young parents rarely have time to even pet a dog, let alone play with it. An animal, deprived of attention and care, will suffer, be stressed, nervous in the presence of a child, which the owners may not like. Therefore, it is better to buy a puppy when the children grow up. For teenagers, the Pomeranian Spitz is the perfect pet.

Dogs of this breed are distinguished by their courage and often seek adventure on a walk. If necessary, the dog may even rush to a larger relative. In general, these animals get along well with other pets, especially if they grow together from childhood, but most likely, over time, an adult dog will begin to dominate the house.

These are very active and mobile creatures, it is important to give the dog an opportunity to throw out energy during a walk, otherwise the dog, with whom they walk a little, will begin to compensate for the excess energy in the apartment by damaging things.

Maintenance and care

As already mentioned, the curiosity of the Pomeranian Spitz does not know borders.

And in order to protect the tiny pet from the dangers, it is important to close all the dangerous passages in the house, isolate the wires, eliminate holes in the balcony.

If it is a balcony with a wrought iron grille as a fence, then it is better not to let out a pet there at all. He will want to know what is interesting below, and easily crawl through the bars of the lattice.

All household chemicals must be placed so that the dog does not get to the bottle. In the apartment the spitz needs its own place - a house, a basket or a stove bench.

To the baby was soft, you can lay him a mattress. Periodically wash the litter. It is better not to place a house near the batteries and keep it from drafts.

When the owner is absent in the house, the spitz will be bored and look for more unexplored corners. Thus, it can again face danger. In addition, because of boredom, the dog may break something or chew on something in the apartment, therefore it is recommended to leave it in a special home aviary during the absence.

There should be put more toys, put a bowl of water, bed bed. Toys must be safe, without small iron or plastic parts. The most preferred option is latex toys.

You can walk your puppy only after the quarantine and vaccination period is completed.

For an unvaccinated animal, the street is full of dangers in the form of parasites and various infections. During the walk you need to make sure that the pet does not eat anything from the ground.

First, nearby could poison the rodents, and, therefore, the poison could get to the ground. Secondly, dog owners are aware of the dangers borne by dog hunters scattering poison for animals in dog walking areas. Letting go of the pet from the leash is not worth it, except that only on special sites.

It is better to get around the pack of stray dogs, while taking a dwarf pet in his arms. There is a grass animal can, but away from the roadway and places near the basements.

    To maintain the health and longevity of an orange, you should inspect it every day.

    • It is necessary to care for the eyes: every day, wipe with warm boiled water. If discharge or inflammation is noticeable, the animal should be shown to the veterinarian.
    • An obligatory procedure should be to clean the ears with cotton pads, it is enough to do this once a week.
    • It is important to control the change of teeth. If this process is inhibited, you should consult your veterinarian for advice, otherwise the growth of molar teeth may be disturbed in the animal. In general, the mouth of the spitz needs regular cleaning with a special brush and paste.
    • Particular attention should be paid to pet hair. It is important to comb it every 3-4 days. In order for the wool to grow better and look healthy, beautiful and well-groomed, you should seek the service of a haircut by a professional groomer, especially if the dog takes part in the exhibition. Animals usually transfer the haircut procedure easily, and some even like this attention to their person.
    • No more than a couple of times a month, you can bathe a dog, and then dry it with a hairdryer. Without bathing on the skin of a fluffy pet can get a fungus.
    • As the claws grow, they need to be trimmed carefully.
