These beautiful little dogs conquer with their ingenuity, the excellent properties of a companion and a friend, a family pet. Hunting instinct is not lost, but not so strong.

Breed history

The ancestors of the northern Spitz were born in Scandinavia long ago, BC. They were very small. Archaeologists have found evidence that in the XIV century BC there was a breed that is incredibly similar in appearance to modern likes. Then the Scandinavian lands were inhabited by people from the south, who were accompanied by the first huskies.

Evolution influenced the dogs: they became more, more enduring, because the conditions of the north demanded it. At all times, the husky was a hunting breed specializing in fur-bearing animals.

Like
Northern Spitz

Since this type of hunting was very profitable, people happily bred dogs. The Northern Spitz was incredibly intelligent, capable, able to hold the beast until the owner arrived.

The Norbotten Spitz is genetically predisposed to hunting, but has never been used for riding purposes.

The popularity of the dog did not extend beyond the borders of the Swedish and Finnish lands, but in the XIX century they were officially registered in dog communities, after which the description of the exterior was recorded. It would seem that the breed should have started to develop, spread, but this did not happen - the Swedish husky almost disappeared as a species by the beginning of the 20th century.

The livestock was inexorably reduced to the first decade of the 20th century, when studies of the characteristics of the breed were published. It turned out that this husky possesses the perfect qualities of the group, which pushed the cynologists to do the restoration and development of the species.

However, in the 1930s, the spitz was still deleted from the list of breeds in the cynological club, since all attempts of breeders were in vain. In the 50s there were enthusiasts, found dogs in the Scandinavian forests of foresters. It took only a dozen years for the Norbotten Spitz to appear on the dog show exhibition forum as one of the most promising breeds.

After the triumphant return in 1968, the husky was officially recognized by international dog experts.
