From the point of view of professional breeders, breeders, dog handlers, a maltipu is not a breed of dogs in the classical sense. Particularly zealous supporters of pure blood called her a pooch, as it is a cross between two breeds. But our article is for those who fall in love with this “plush toy”, who wants to see in her home a kind being, affectionate and kind. It does not matter whether this friend of the family is recognized by canine associations or not. So, our conversation today will focus on the maltypu design domestic dog, its history of origin, and other interesting facts.

History of origin

You need to start with the very concept of "designer dogs." In the mid-50s of the 20th century, an unusual pet was born in England - dorgi, a cross between a dachshund and a corgi.

This experiment is considered a kind of reference point for the artistic design (design) of new breeds of dogs.

Following the dorgas, vestipu, goldendudl, cavapa, cocapu and others appeared. And in 1980, they started talking about maltipa - a puppy of a Maltese (malti) and a toy poodle (poo).

Designers are often asked why they crossbreed dogs of different breeds. Because mestizo has a number of advantages over their parents:

  • unusual appearance acquired from two or even three breeds;
  • hypoallergenic - many call it the first reason for the development of new breeds;
  • minimum percentage of molting;
  • good immunity;
  • character, focused on human interaction: friendliness, loyalty, playfulness.

    Despite the fact that dogs with unusual names, which are derived from the names of mom and dad puppy breeds, are becoming more and more, designer dogs are not recognized as breeds. Parents may have official documents, but they do not have offspring.

    The origin of the maltipu has two versions:

    1. desire to have an apartment hypo-allergenic mini-dog;
    2. the desire to bring the ideal pet both by external data and by intellectual indicators.

    At the beginning of the XXI century in the United States began a boom among those who not only wanted to make a real friend - a pet, but also those who wanted to be like their idols. The fact is that the network appeared more and more photos of celebrity with maltipu, which led to the real excitement. On the one hand, the American Club of Hybrid Dogs appeared, fan clubs, on the other hand, the prices for puppies, whose appearance was based on the principle “first invented, then created”, went through the roof.

    Around 2010, the first such puppies were imported into Russia, and also thanks to the beau monde. But thanks to the distribution of the maltip is still dog breeders who are engaged in the official sale of puppies. Until now, many are surprised by the unreasonably overpriced price (up to 150 thousand rubles) for a dog without documents.

    This is especially annoying breeders who say that passion for designer dogs raises serious concerns among breeders of purebred animals. In their opinion, such crossing is often done by non-professionals, without testing the parents of the puppies. This is what leads to the fact that 5 puppies out of 6 are born with a very unusual exterior and congenital diseases.

    But after all, many breeds began with crossing, which means that designer dogs still have everything ahead. It just takes time and real professionals. And at the moment Maltipu - in the top ten most popular mini-dogs in the world.

    Description

    Even getting acquainted in absentia with fluffy charm, you can find too different information about the maltipa. For example, on some sites it says that the weight of a dog is from 1.5 to 3.5 kg. On the others - from 1 to 9 kg. Someone writes that height at withers is 20-30 cm, others - 35 cm.

    Why are such different data for a dwarf dog? Because there is no breed - no standards. And no one blames the owners that their puppy is too curly or too tall. Because for them it will be important that the puppy is playful, intelligent, tied to the owner. This characteristic is given by almost all owners of the maltypa.

    A puppy always looks like a soft toy with eyes with buttons. But an adult dog may be more like a mom or dad. Ears drooping, set low. The case is elongated.

    In general, the individuals are fairly harmoniously folded, they are nice to look at. Real representatives of the world of glamor.

    The size corresponds to the concept of “mini-dog”, but each case is individual: there are individuals really dwarf, and the others are much larger. This is no longer a pocket version, but you can wear this miracle on your hands. By the way, commercial breeders do their best to make “cup” puppies, that is, bring the size to the mini-maltipa.

    External data depends on the brand of hybridity:

    • F1 - These are puppies derived from Toy Poodle and Maltese;
    • mating maltipu with a toy poodle give a puppy that looks more like a poodle that unscrupulous vendors use and sell little poodles for the price of a small maltipa;
    • F2 - This is a hybrid of two maltipoo, the second generation, which looks no longer so interesting and attractive, than knocks the price at times.
    F1
    F2

      In many ways, the structure affects the dog's coat. She is 3 types:

      • sleek silky hair - the most expensive, because this wool (dog) does not form mats, does not require special care;
      • curly dogs inherited the hair from the toy poodle, which creates a lot of problems: the curls are confused, forming mats;
      • stiff wavy hair is least likely to occur, but is considered an undesirable cheap variety.

      The density of the dog is also different: both rare and very dense. This forces the owners to more closely monitor the pet's hair, grooming and trimming.

      Character

      The Maltese took their best character traits from their parents. These dogs are valued for:

      • family loyalty;
      • goodwill;
      • playfulness from puppy to adulthood;
      • curiosity;
      • energy;
      • good learner.

        Curiosity pulls them into meeting people, animals, and birds. They are designed for families with children. Human calves and Maltese will never be bored with each other. But if you do not play with them, do not pay attention to them, leave alone, the dogs will be sick and suffer.

        Hence the first conclusion for future owners: if there is no possibility to devote a lot of time to a maltip, then you should not buy a dog.

        Speaking of intelligence, the owners point out that It would be wrong to call their pets geeks, but they are not stupid either. According to experts, these are smart animals with a rating of 4 out of 5 points. But they are very gullible: they can easily approach strangers or big brothers. The consequences of such curiosity can be sad. Therefore, for walks you need to choose quiet places and be sure to look after your pet.

        And walking with them is enough half an hour a day, although dogs with pleasure can be worn on the street and several hours. These mestizos are completely non-aggressive, therefore they cannot protect themselves. If there are fears that larger animals may attack the pet, then it is better not to lower it from the leash. Even with age, when the hyperactivity subsides, the dog will still explore all unfamiliar corners, enjoy socializing with both humans and the hamster.

        At home, this miracle will follow the owner and control all his actions: whether the owner is preparing correctly, or if he has chosen the right speed on the treadmill.At the same time it is easy to train. The more family members, the easier it is to communicate with a Maltese: Someone will be scratching his tum, someone will cook dinner with him, someone will get a combing out, and someone else will need to be trained.

        All hybrids have clear voices, so this “bell” will warn about the arrival of welcome guests, scare away unwanted, but at the same time wake up the whole apartment, but also neighbors.

        And one more characteristic: Hypoallergenic dog is in the event that it is F1, and then there are misfires.

        Therefore, if you decide to make a gift for allergies, then you need to keep in mind that there may be surprises.

        Types of color

        Wool maltipu surprises not only the thickness and type of hair, but also in color. Kids can be born in a variety of colors, and with both monoocras and two- and three-colored. And the color of the color will affect the price. The white maltipu is considered a special chic, although it is not pure white. Animal designers deliberately overcharge on such dogs. But the color can be black, silver, cream, brown, peach, blue.

        In combination, colors can also be very diverse, and all look very interesting. The same black color is not pure, it always has subtones.

        Care rules

        Maltipu only indoor dogs, they will not survive on the street. By the time the puppy acquires a home, a place must be prepared in it. It must be secluded away from doors and windows - a gentle creature is afraid of drafts. Therefore, it is better to acquire Not just a litter, but a basket with a convenient low entrance.

        If this is your first pet, then you need to know that in the future he will need three mandatory places: for play and sleep, for feeding, to cope with natural needs (toilet).

        Therefore, in addition to the basket, you need to prepare toys, a leash and a collar for walking, a diaper, and then a tray, bowls for water and food. In addition, you will need brushes for combing. The easiest way to care for straight silky hair, but also it needs to be combed 2-3 times a week. Curly beasts need to be combed every day. Still, they can form mats, which are struggling with special shampoos.

        But when choosing a shampoo, it is worth considering the type of coat, so as not to worsen the structure of the hair. In

        Bathing for such fluffy dogs is necessary. This should be done 2-3 times a month. washing time at hand should be a comb for dogs, otherwise the wool can not be washed. It is better to have a few.

        For a maltipu a single-row comb is hardly suitable, it is better to get a multi-row not too frequent, and for a long coat - a soft brush or a comb, which has rare teeth. It should not be plastic or metal. Most suitable for a wooden comb without chipping or a brush with metal teeth, but with silicone tips (the metal will not damage the skin, and the plastic will not electrify).

        The size of the comb directly depends on the size of the dog: for a puppy, a maltyp needs a small comb, for an adult dog - more.

        After bathing, dry the towel. You can use the hair dryer sparingly if the dog is not scared. On the one hand, a hairdryer can dry out skin and wool, on the other hand, hair after such drying looks much neater. Yes, and when self-drying dog can freeze and catch a cold.

        Hard wool perfectly protects the dog from the cold, practically does not fade, does not require regular combing, does not fall into mats. But it has a ripening cycle (4-8 months), after which it disintegrates, forming inaccurate rows, loses luster, becomes ugly. To prevent this from happening, the dead hair is plucked out.

        Trimming is not a painful procedure, as many think. On the contrary, the dog likes it so much that she often falls asleep on the table for grooming.

        Experts say that trimming is preferable to haircuts, as it makes the dog's hair more well-groomed, shiny, bright, neat. If, however, do not pull out dead hair, then living ones will become thinner, they will stray into tangles, their color will become faded. To cut the mestizo is recommended 2-3 times a year. Haircuts can be standard or creative, manual or machine; medium, short or very short; hygienic - around the eyes, nose and mouth, under the tail, between the claws, in the ears.

        Moreover, the groomer will not only cut his hair, but also perform the other necessary procedures: cutting nails (once a month), spa procedures, hygienic treatment of the mouth, eyes and ears, and the fight against external parasites.

        Grooming is completed by perfusing the wool. To some, this procedure will seem overkill, since the maltip has no dog smell, but this dog is simply created for material investments.

        Cleaning the ears and often sour eyes is a mandatory procedure not only in the cabin, but also at home. Ears are cleaned with a special lotion and a cloth. The eyes, which often peel off and turn sour (a legacy from maltesa), are treated with an ophthalmic lotion applied on a napkin, or with a decoction of chamomile or tea solution. On the white wool, the lacrimal paths are still visible. If it is fundamentally important for the owners that the dog has the perfect look, then the tracks are lightened with special powder or conditioner from the pet shop.

        Maltip needs to regularly brush his teeth with a small silicone cap. It is necessary to accustom the dog to this procedure from birth, and carry it out about once every 3-4 days. Some owners write that pets have no problems with teeth, others say that half-breed has weak teeth. Anyway, a regular examination of the veterinarian is necessary to ensure the health of the dog.

        Also in the zoo clinic you need to contact for timely vaccination. Maltipu is a mixture of rocks. And purebred dogs do not live long without vaccinations. And it will be very painful to realize that this teddy baby died from the fact that the owner or hostess did not take the time to vaccinate the dog. Do not forget that pets need to regularly give drugs from worms. De-worming is carried out once a quarter (this also applies to people whose families live any animals).

        On the walking of dogs, the owners also leave a variety of reviews. Some people write that it’s enough to go out twice a day for 15-20 minutes. Someone says that you can go out with them once a day for half an hour. There are those who write that the dog is ready to rush around the house for hours. In any case, veterinarians give the following tips for walking:

        • in winter, the maltip should be warmed with a dustcloth or overalls;
        • in cold weather, the nose and the paw pads are lubricated with a special wax containing agent to protect the skin;
        • if a dog wants to play, then it is better to take a ball with you, or to run around with it;
        • after the walk, you need to wash your paws and lubricate them with a nourishing cream (you should be especially careful about this if the dog runs along the street where the reagent is scattered).

        Diseases

        In matters of health, perhaps, the aspect of lack of a breed is most pronounced: diseases from both parents take over the maltipu, and they are not particularly involved in testing and improving. Therefore, the half-breed in each individual case will develop in different ways. If your baby has acquired a “hybrid power” as a result of crossing parents, then you are lucky. If not lucky, then the most common type in maltypu:

        • allergy, often associated with improper diet;
        • dislocations of the patella (patella);
        • hypoglycemia, which can result in a “trembling” syndrome;
        • hypothyroidism, which will have a negative effect not only on overall well-being, but also on appearance;
        • pancreatitis;
        • cardiovascular diseases;
        • problems with gums and teeth;
        • bouts of cramps;
        • progressive atrophy of the retina rcd3-PRA, which can completely or partially deprive the dog of view;
        • chronic neurological diseases, including epilepsy;
        • Shaker's white dog syndrome (or Shaker's white dog syndrome) is characterized by a lack of coordination, rapid eye movement, and a tremor throughout the body; more common in white dogs, but not necessary. The condition is complicated by the fact that the disease can be genetically transmitted from both the maltese and the poodle.

        This does not mean that all diseases will manifest in your pet, so You should not constantly look for signs of a particular disease. With proper care, proper nutrition and constant care, a teddy pet may well live to be 12-15 years old.

        What to feed?

        The answer to the question about the dog's diet depends on the age of the pet. Puppies eat 6, and even more, once a day. Good owners keep the baby in breast milk for up to 3 months, that is, the puppy grows up with the mother (and preferably with the father) to this age. For all babies, mother's milk is the best immunostabilizer for the body.

        From about 3 months old, the dog begins to translate into adult food. Each product begins to enter from 1⁄4 parts from the daily portion, gradually bringing to the daily norm. It is better to introduce new products in turn, in order to understand from which of them the baby's digestion was upset or which one he liked more.

        For adults there are two types of food: natural products and dry food. Caring owners use both.

        Designer dogs are recommended super premium granules and holistic classes for small breeds. The list of natural products is quite large:

        • boiled poultry, beef, rabbit, sea fish, that is, foods containing protein (proteins), can sometimes be given pieces of raw beef or raw (scalded) liver;
        • fermented milk products (not milk): cottage cheese, low-fat kefir;
        • vegetables: cucumbers, sweet peppers, carrots, etc .;
        • greenery;
        • fruit (1 time in three days): apple, pear, melon, watermelon - the portion should not exceed two tablespoons so that the pet is not fattened by excess sucrose;
        • buckwheat, oatmeal or rice porridge;
        • 2-3 times a week you can give walnuts with a drop of honey.

          Forbidden foods include fried foods, smoked and salted foods, chocolate, and any pastries.

            Maltipu - those still beggar yummy. You should not succumb to their "entreaties", otherwise the pet faces obesity. It is enough for an adult dog to eat twice a day. But always have to stand a bowl with clean water.

            But since the menu of natural products will have to be mastered by trial and error, the pet will need vitamin complexes without fail. They will help maintain the shine and silkiness of the scalp. Correctly pick a multivitamin will help the vet.

            Upbringing

            The process of education begins with the appearance of a puppy in the house. At this moment it is very important to understand that this is not a plush toy, but a living being, which is completely dependent on its owner. Together with his pet, the owner will learn and teach where to sleep, where there are bowls for food. The main problem for many is related to the answer to the question of how to teach a puppy to a diaper.

            Yes, a little puppy is difficult to walk in the tray. It is much easier to teach him to a smooth surface, which is a waterproof medical diaper. It should be laid away from the place of sleep and food. Ideally, where later will stand tray. Immediately after eating and after sleeping, the puppies release their bladder. At this point, the dog must be put on a diaper and follow his actions.

            Each correct action should be encouraged with a word, affection, a tasty treat. But in no case do not spank and beat the puppy for what he did a puddle in the wrong place.

            From about two months of age, the maltipu is ready for the perception of the training teams. Experts say that if you start training later, it will require more effort, as these mestizas are quite capricious creatures.If, however, let the process of education to take its course, then on the street it will constantly run away or tear the leash, and at the away will "announce" that you are not engaged in its education. But Malty will not tolerate any compulsion: only caress, play, trust, praise, delicacies for the right actions.

            Whether your pet needs a general course of training, decide for yourself. But it is necessary to learn the simplest commands, since intelligence helps.

            1. "To me". When the dog is 5-10 meters away, give the command. Proper execution encourage a delicacy, as well as for any other correctly executed command.
            2. "Lie down." Simultaneously with voice sounding, the dog is pressed to the floor, holding the hand in the area of the withers and back.
            3. "Beside". Mini-dogs love to overtake the owner during a walk. It is unsafe for her. Such impulses need to stop. The owner needs to loudly pronounce the command, carefully pulling the leash on himself.
            4. "Sit". For practicing the skill will suit both the street and the house. Giving the command, you need to press the waist and croup of the dog with your hand.
            5. "Fu". Team required to learn. That she can save the life and health of the pet, if he is going to pick up something on the street. It is at this point that you must strictly pronounce the command, and for obedience you must be commended and encouraged with a snack.

            In this way, Only praise and caress will help to raise a dog. A treat will speed up the process of training.

            But it is important to remember that education, training is not a one-time lesson, but permanent, requiring time and patience from the owner.

            Summing up, characterizing the maltypu, we note that it is:

            • a dog with a low degree of aggressiveness (2 points out of 5),
            • average degree of activity (3/5),
            • average level of training (3/5),
            • high level of friendliness (4/5),
            • does not tolerate loneliness (1/5),
            • intellectually developed (4/5),
            • not very noisy, but not quiet (3/5),
            • she has a moderate molt (3/5),
            • this is a bad guard (2/5),
            • requires moderate care (3/5),
            • has an average level of health (3/5),
            • the cost of maintenance is average (3/5).
