If a person starts a dog as not only a pet, but also a future exhibitor or for breeding, he cannot do without a pedigree. Making this document is not particularly challenging.

What is a pedigree for?

A pedigree can be made to a dog that meets several important criteria. Her parents must be pedigree, and the dog itself fully comply with the standards and not have any defects. In other words, pedigree is an indicator that a puppy belongs to a pure breed without any impurities.

However, this document does not guarantee that the animal will have a good character, susceptibility to training or mental characteristics necessary for employment in certain services.

If you have a purebred dog with a pedigree, you can get access to mating, permission to participate in exhibitions, registering with the club and other benefits. Since the document is a guarantee of compliance with the standards of the breed and purebred puppy, it makes it possible to significantly increase its value. For breeders, this fact is certainly an advantage. In general, the higher the rank of the parents, the more expensive their puppies are.

Many people, by the way, confuse the pedigree document with veterinary passport, which is issued to any dog in any veterinary clinic. Despite the words in the name “international” and “passport”, the paper does not contain any information on compliance with standards and ancestors. Only data on the state of animal health, vaccinations, parasite treatments and other similar measures are indicated in it.

In the same veterinary clinic issued Chipping Registration Certificatebut again this is not about pedigree. The chip is a miniature chip inserted under the skin of an animal, thanks to which you can quickly find out the data about the dog and its owner.

In general, a pedigree is needed either for business or to satisfy the owner’s ambitions. An ordinary pet does not need special papers with stamps and confirmation, as they do not affect even a visit to the vet or flight abroad. But without a veterinary passport is not enough - its design will be required even for the mongrels found on the street.

The same applies to buying a dog: if the owner does not have a pedigree, it does not mean at all that he is deceiving the buyer, perhaps he simply did not bother himself with paperwork in his time. But the veterinary passport is obligatory, because at least it guarantees the availability of vaccinations and the absence of danger to people and other animals.

At what age do?

To arrange a dog's pedigree, first puppies need to receive a birth certificate. In this document, in addition to the fact of the birth itself, will indicate that the mating parents was carried out in accordance with the rules.

The primary metric is important to have time to issue from the moment the puppy turns 45 days and until the age of three months. In most cases, the receipt of this metric occurs along with the activation of the litter in the cynological club, where the mother of the puppy consists. Further, the birth certificate will be exchanged for a pedigree, which can be drawn up after the dog reaches 6 months.

The main thing is to be in time with the papers, until the dog turns 15 months old and it does not move from juniors to the category of adults. Paperwork takes from 3 to 4 months.

The club’s primary metric is for the dog, and the pedigree is processed through the RKF or SCOR.

Groups

Experts identify three main groups of pedigrees. These species differ mainly in the amount of information contained.

  • Group A combines full-type pedigrees. These documents contain information about the ancestors of the dog over 5 previous generations.
  • Group B involves the entry in the document information only about the parents of the puppy.
  • Finally, in the C pedigrees, which are often referred to as the registry, contains information only about the dog itself - the nickname, breed and full name. the owner.

Surely the more serious the plans for the dog, the higher should be the category of pedigree. If data on one of the ancestors is missing, then the pedigree of group A is considered incomplete. In principle, the same applies to group B.

What documents do I need to provide?

To formalize a pedigree on a dog in Russia, as already mentioned, you must first get puppy card. The information model contains all the features of a particular specimen and even its flaws that affect the breeding value of the dog. Usually, The document must contain the breed and the nickname, gender and date of birth, as well as the suit and stamp number.

Immediately there are made available information about the parents of the animal, as well as full name, passport details and contact information of the owner. This document is further recognized as valid and is used for exchange only if there is a seal and mural of the organization that issued it.

Part of the primary metric is sent to storage in Russian Canine Federationand the other remains with the owner. It is important to keep it even after receiving the pedigree., as with the loss of the main document in most cases, recovery is possible only with this certificate. Although sometimes when contacting the club, employees issue a repeated birth certificate, based on the stigma applied to the dog’s ear or belly. Action puppy metric ends when the puppy is one year and 3 months old.

Some owners are concerned about the question of whether it will be possible to arrange a pedigree if the primary document is missing. Get in this case will only registration or zero paper. Although she confirms the breed of a puppy, it does not give him the opportunity to participate in international exhibitions and be used for breeding. Zero pedigree is issued only if the commission confirms that the dog meets the standards of the breed.

By the way, this name is given because of "zero" - the lack of information in the line about the parents.

The register pedigree is done at the club. A prerequisite is a preliminary inspection of the dog by three experts certified for this breed. In addition to this information, you will need two photos - in profile and full face, again signed by an expert. If so, it is worth adding the original unconfirmed pedigree. When filling in the metrics for obtaining a pedigree, it is important to adhere to a simple rule - do everything neatly and correctly, otherwise the organization may refuse to issue this paper.

Prescribing information in all rows, It is important to use block letters written in the most legible manner. If the experts incorrectly read a symbol and, accordingly, give out an incorrectly filled pedigree, you will have to redo everything. In the “Owner” line, the name and surname are recorded, and in the “Address” line - the current residence permit indicated in the passport. We must not forget about the index - its absence may serve as a refusal to receive documents.

Puppy metrics change in the Union of Dog Organizations of Russia or in RKF. Documents issued by other organizations are not considered valid. The most prestigious are the pedigrees issued by RKF. They allow you to take part in competitions and exhibitions not only in Russia, but also abroad.

Papers SCOR provide an opportunity to act only as part of the club activities. If the puppy owner has issued a paper in the Union, and then decided to receive confirmation from the RKF, he will have to go through the test with his pet at three exhibitions and get marks from three experts.

To exchange evidence for pedigree, today it is not necessary to go to Moscow, since kennels and city clubs are engaged in mediation. To obtain the document, you must report to the administration of the nursery where the puppy was purchased or to the official dog breeding club of the city. Having found out about the possibility of registering a pedigree, you must pay for receipts and make a puppy card. The birth certificate is changed to an adult “passport”, which can be picked up in about three months.

How to decipher?

The pedigree of the dog looks like a colored laminated blank. The outer side of the document is filled with two logos - FCI and RKF. It also contains the decoding of the abbreviations used, contact addresses and phone numbers. On the inside you can see information about the ancestors of the dog.

You should first read the data about the father, and then about the mother. Quite often in the ancestors on the maternal and paternal sides, you can meet the same dog, acting as a grandfather on both sides. If this happens, then this dog is somehow interested in breeders, who then intentionally carried out mating many times. Perhaps he was the owner of a large number of titles or produced an unusual offspring.

Each parent also has two generations of ancestors. All animals can learn not only the breed and color, but also titles, gender and dates of birth. Of the important digits here are the mark code, chip code and pedigree number. The final part of the document is the seal of the RKF, and the signature of its head.

Pedigree dogs must always remain clean and smoothed, therefore, it is better to keep it in a folder with a hard cover, which, in turn, is stored in a dry place out of reach of children and animals.

When purchasing a puppy with a pedigree, it is important to carefully examine the document for the absence of forgery. The document must be laminated, have a hologram and the main logos. If you look at the brand, you can find data indicating a particular club. Finding his contacts on the Internet, it is easy to find out the data about the puppy.

If you change the owner of the dog pedigree will have to renew.
