A carpet is an interior element that has gone through various stages of recognition, from the peak of fashion to complete denial. But if the attitude towards products on the walls can be twofold, then the flooring is still more familiar. Especially in the bedroom, where comfort, peace, warmth should be felt as much as possible.

Features and functions

To buy a carpet in the bedroom or not, a question that can cause controversy in the family. And yet, most are inclined to think that he should be in this room. Pleasant tactile sensations, the need to often walk barefoot, visual softening of the interior - everything speaks in favor of the carpet.

Carpet in the bedroom performs the following functions.

  • Noise isolation. Carpets are excellent noise absorbers, and in the sleep and rest room this characteristic is especially important.
  • Cold protection. In winter, it is more pleasant to walk on the warm floor, and warming is the function of the carpet.
  • Interior completeness. Sometimes without this element in the room is visually empty, I want to make it cozier, to balance the decorative elements.
  • Convenience in cleaning. If you do not have the most successful laminate that you need to wash and rub with special products every day so that it does not look dirty and faded, it is better to hide this coating at least partially. It is enough to vacuum in the morning and the floor looks perfect.

And if you buy a quality wool carpet, provide your feet with a natural massage. The villi gently massage the feet, which has a good effect on blood circulation, the overall tone of the body. And even the prevention of the incidence of colds, the presence of natural coverage in the room has a positive effect. Finally, the carpet is not a very expensive piece of furniture (unless, of course, you are staring at luxury goods or rare items).

You can always find the best option for any wallet that will decorate your home, make the bedroom even more comfortable and warm.

Materials

And there is something to think about, carefully examine the composition of the proposed purchase. The product should be convenient to use, as environmentally friendly as possible, not particularly difficult to clean - such requirements are natural, and it is these that are the basis of choice today.

And there is something to choose from.

  • Propylene. Environmental friendliness in this embodiment is small, since it is a synthetic product associated with oil refining. Such carpets rarely appear in the bedroom, they have low wear resistance and vacuuming does not give in very well. But the option is cheap and affordable, although it is least suitable for a bedroom.
  • Durable nylon. From this material are obtained elastic and durable carpet. They have a knitted base, they have a long service life, as manufacturers use the technology of simultaneous weaving pile and warp.
  • Wool. The best option without a doubt - natural and durable, they can decorate the interior for more than a decade. Such models are expensive, but the price is justified. Wool carpet will fit in virtually any interior. True, they quickly get dirty and react negatively to moisture.
  • Silk. A very expensive option, but also the highest quality. True, in a standard apartment such products are not actually purchased.
  • Viscose. It is a kind of alternative to silk carpet. Soft and pleasant tactile material copes with its task. The price is much cheaper than silk.
  • Nylon. The coatings are durable and durable, resistant to fire.
  • Polyester. These carpets will also last a long time, the price is affordable, and the design of the design includes a wide variety of colors and prints.
  • Jute. Jute mats, which are popular today, are inexpensive, easy to maintain and very durable. But the products of jute is afraid of water, after wetting it shrinks.

Separately, it is worth noting the mat. So called dense lint-free loop carpets made from natural plant fibers (for example - from rice, flax, sisal, cane). The mats have a rather trivial look, but the interlacing of threads of different thickness and texture creates an interesting visualization. Usually mats are used for decoration of a country house, for a bedroom in the country - this is a good option.

Cotton covers are especially popular today: they are distinguished by high thermal conductivity, they absorb moisture well, have good ventilation and are excellent for cleaning. True, cotton is not suitable in the bedroom for those who suffer from allergies.

Shape and size

The size should correlate with the bedroom settings. Small carpets are coverings with an area of no more than 3 square meters, medium ones - coverings with an area of 3-6 squares, and large ones - from 6 meters. If you decide that the bedroom must have a large carpet, from 2.5 m wide, try to stop the choice on the cover of soothing colors, preferably without patterns (or with a blurry, unobtrusive print). Such products are located under all the furniture in the room.

Medium carpets logically and concisely distinguish a certain area in the bedroom - for example, a dressing table. Small carpets are, for the most part, color contrasts or additions. They are well help to highlight the desired colors in the bedroom. As for the form, the classic options are rectangle and square. Other forms (and oval carpets too) are used to a greater extent for the placement of interior accents. Oval carpets are great to emphasize the area with a mirror. Carpets can emphasize a certain piece of furniture: for example, to repeat the shape of a corner sofa or table.

Attention! If you are interested in feng shui, then oval and round carpets, according to this philosophy, bring peace and spirituality into the room, harmonize the situation in it.

Colors

Almost always, the element is selected by the method of contrast: it should not merge with the floor. If the carpet and the floor merge, the whole picture of the horizontal room is smeared. The following recommendations work regarding the color of the carpet in the bedroom.

  • For a good rest in the bedroom, an atmosphere should be created without any external irritants. Therefore, calm and bright colors of carpets are optimal. They have a positive effect on the psyche, help calm down.
  • If the room is made in black and white, graphic colors, and it seems unfinished to you, you can safely choose a bright carpet - for example, crimson.
  • It so happens that the curtains, the coating on the bed, the color of the furniture are the same, that everything blends into one color spot, which makes it look uncomfortable. This situation can save the carpet in a contrasting color. It visually separates the levels, brings order and stability to the interior.
  • Carpet can enhance the basic color of the bedroom - for this, think about what it will be a companion (curtains, throw pillows, etc.).

If you have furniture in the bedroom of beige, woody shades, and the walls are blue, then you can safely take the carpet to match the walls. This may be a plain blue coating, or a model with a not very bright beige print.

How to choose?

Today, interior fashion turned to manual creativity more than ever. A new wave of popularity is associated with macrame, a lot of wood, textiles, rope design, etc. reappears in the interiors. Carpet is also a concern! Wicker (knitted rugs) are in great demand. We can weave them from different materials: by bending around the knots of the warp, a nice pattern is obtained.

Rugs weave and hostess themselves: they cut knitted things into stripes and “by grandma’s way” weave small, very cozy, well-washable mats. They will look great in the interiors of scandi, boho, country, Provence, etc.

To perfectly fit the carpet to the bedroom, answer the following questions:

  • What role do I want to take the carpet in the bedroom? If the key, do not even consider the small size of the coating.
  • Do I like a long nap or a smooth finish? If the nap is to be present, a wide choice opens here: models can be long-nap, medium-nap, short-nap. The pile itself is structurally different (for example, a nap frieze is a twisted version, and velor is cut loops).
  • Do I need to highlight the zone and what specific? If you want a modest bedside rug, its size should not go beyond the outlines of the bed. If you like the option with a rug in the cabinet, it may be irregularly shaped. Think about where the carpet is more appropriate, where it will not interfere, and with what color it will be combined.

Modern interiors can strike with color, stylistic decision, minimalism, but rarely refuse bedside rugs.

If you adhere to the trendy lagging philosophy today, the bedroom will have a rather modest, unpretentious, but cozy and natural bedside rug.

How to lay?

The traditional element is a carpet in the “barefoot zone”, that is, near the bed. So effectively, the sleep zone stands out against the general background. If the carpet product is large, then you can place it under the bed - it will go beyond its shape. This is the usual location, but it is suitable only for smooth carpets. If you follow today's fashionable pattern, then put a carpet on the floor so that it lies across the bed and the bed is only half on it.

Sometimes the owners decide on all sides to surround the bed with carpets: on the sides and at the foot. The option is bold, although it is not difficult to achieve symmetry and visual ordering in this way. Another option - two bedside rug on the sides. If you like simple interiors, it can be patchwork, wicker rugs that are well washed and look cute and rustic in warmth. The variant with asymmetry is complex and requires an artistic look: all the elements of the interior are geometrically isolated and at the same time they look organic - not an easy task.

Examples in the interior

Practical training can be photos of bedrooms that are in tune with the atmosphere in your room. Evaluate how the designer uncovered the theme of the carpet, whether such a solution could be appropriate in your situation.

Consider such examples.

  • Bedroom in very calm, restrained colors. Everything looks natural, light, traditional. Notice how the carpet is located - partly it is under the bed, but most of it remains free. Such a solution ideally organizes the space.
  • Modern bedroom with a creative atmosphere. A rug with a long nap, with ethnic simplified ornament looks quite bright, makes the interior a bit eclectic. The carpet lies at the foot of the bed, apart, as a self-contained interior element. He just asks to sit on it for an evening conversation, a glass of wine and viewing old photo albums.
  • The bedroom where beige reigns. Milk carpet placed asymmetrically. But such a decision creates a dynamic in the bedroom, makes it more alive, adds a “character” to the room. A good way to revive the interior, if the current situation seems a bit old-fashioned.
  • Bright carpet in a cozy bedroom. Here the product clearly plays the main role. It is (albeit partially) not only a bed, but also a chair, as well as a bedside element. A bright, striped, cheerful carpet finds “associates” in the form of paintings on the walls, and all together it makes an ordinary, standardly designed bedroom very colorful and pretty.

There is no need to abandon the carpet in the bedroom: sometimes this is the only thing that can combine big and small, expensive and modest in terms of price, modern and vintage.
