Since ancient times, mankind has a very mixed opinion about such an interesting breed of dogs as the bull terrier. Most people believe that this animal is very aggressive and even dangerous for humans. Black bull terriers are considered especially aggressive.

However, many dog experts claim that the dog is incapable of killing a person, and it carries no danger. Like it or not - it is worth to understand.

It is about black bull terriers that will be discussed in the article.

Breed origin

Bull terriers were born thanks to the experiments of the English breeder James Hinks. In the middle of the XIX century, he set the task to form a completely new and truly strong dog.

Initially, Hinks planned to create a perfectly white dog, and he did it.

For breeding it was required to cross a Dalmatian, an English bulldog and a white English terrier.

Contrary to this version, quite recently, facts have surfaced proving that the breed appeared much earlier - about 200 years ago. These conclusions are made on the basis of canvases of 1810, on which animals can be seen, strongly resembling a bull terrier.

Officially, the breed was recognized at one of the exhibitions - around 1863.

In the middle of the 20th century, not only white bull terriers began to appear, but also black ones.

To date, there are many different and fancy colors.

Description

Consider the main characteristics of the breed.

  • In appearance the dog is very powerful and muscular, despite its small size. The male is noticeably larger than the female and by weight (about 25 kilograms) and in height (no more than 50 centimeters).
  • Head the bull terrier is long and oval. A smooth arc passes from the nape of the neck to the nose, and between the ears the skull is almost perfectly flat.
  • Muzzle dogs resemble a rat, so the bull terrier is often called the "giant rat." The jaw is very massive and strong. Eyes of dark color, when excited, they noticeably widen.
  • On the head there are close-set triangular ears.
  • Separately worth saying about dog paws - they are very strong and developed. That is why while running the bull terrier is able to develop a rather high speed.
  • Wool short and dense. It happens both black and white.

Now it must be said whether the black bull terrier is deservedly considered dangerous.

Indeed, at times the dog has outbreaks of aggression, for example, at the sight of a cat. However, it should be understood that for a long time the breed was grown for fights and exhibitions, so the fighting instinct cannot be taken away from the dog. This also explains the strength and muscularity of the dog, as well as the massive jaws.

In the battle with his rival, the animal, in fact, shows strong aggression, however, with the right upbringing, it is unable to harm the person.

Upbringing and training

Because of the fearless and stubborn nature of the dog, it is necessary to raise and train it from the earliest years. It is important that the animal is aware of who is the owner. In the absence of training and proper education, it can become completely uncontrollable.

By providing the bull terrier with rigorous training and a good dog handler, you can get an obedient and loyal friend for many years.

By the nature of the dog is very active, hardy and friendly. Absolutely loyal to people, but with other dogs can show aggression.

Before you bring such a pet home, you should clearly realize that for his upbringing, a firm and patient character is needed, otherwise the dog simply will not take his master seriously.

The bull terrier gives in to training rather badly. This is due to his stubborn character and absolute fearlessness. Basically, the dog does only what it likes, so for training you need to hire an experienced specialist.

Show aggression and anger towards the pet is not worth it - the animal is very vindictive, and at any time can take revenge.

Walking must be daily - at least 2 times a day.

The dog is very active and restless, so you need to deal with it seriously.

Nutrition

The diet of the bull terrier should be balanced and rich in vitamins and minerals. Dry food should be selected by a specialist, based on the height and weight of the dog.

The best food for this animal is raw meat. However, to avoid infection with worms It is recommended to pour boiling water over meat before giving it to the dog.

Good in the diet will be chicken stomachs, hearts, as well as boiled sea fish. From time to time, you can give raw eggs or dairy products.

When giving meat to a dog, it is important to know that she absolutely can not pork. And prohibited products such as chocolate, ice cream, flour, smoked, spicy, fried products.

Puppies need to be fed 5-6 times a day, then gradually reduce the number of feedings.

It is recommended to feed the dog immediately after the walk - 2 times a day. But the size of the portion is strictly dependent on the age of the pet. It is believed that the smaller the puppy, the more food it needs, because at an early age puppies burn a huge amount of energy.

It is important that the dog has a certain diet - if she refuses to eat, the bowl should be placed in the refrigerator until the next meal.

In addition to high-quality and balanced food, the dog must also have clean water in constant access.

Care

Bull terrier puppies are very mobile. And such dogs remain up to the age of 5-6 years. Therefore, animals require physical exertion and long walks.

Special care for bull terriers is not required. - both white and black wool are rather short, and the dogs themselves are very clean. Nevertheless, combing the dog's coat at least once every two days will not interfere. Do this with a special brush and rubber gloves.

It is necessary to bathe an animal only in case of need, and it is necessary to cut off claws approximately once in 2 weeks by means of a special device.

Choosing a puppy

    If the decision to purchase a black puppy is unshakable, It is important to know how to do this:

    • should apply only to the official breeders with all the necessary references and documents;
    • selected puppy should be no more than two months;
    • special attention should be paid to its appearance and behavior;
    • All data about vaccinations, including those about anthelmintic prophylaxis, must be in the dog's passport.

    Having chosen such a complicated pet as a dog of the bull terrier breed, it is worth realizing that education of this pet is not given to everyone. However, strict discipline and regular training is a guarantee that the dog will grow obedient and faithful.
