A gel polish manicure is due to its popularity in that it can hold onto nails for about two weeks. This feature it provides a composition with polymers, which when exposed to ultraviolet rays form a solid film. Despite all the convenience of such a manicure, there is a minus - thickening of the composition. Most often it becomes too thick that gel Polish, which is used most often. This is due to proximity to the UV lamp, frequent contact with oxygen and sunlight, which provoke the polymerization process. Gel polish is also called shellac.

Ways

Dilute a thick gel polish preferably no more than once, because it reduces the quality of the coating. When applied, it may roll, and then crack, and the color may become a dull shade. It is possible to dilute gel varnish by various means.

  • Alcohol. It is important to note that this method can lead to dry skin and nails, and the applied coating loses its strength.
  • Top coating or colorless varnish. The quality does not suffer much, but the color will become less saturated. If shellac is only bought and thick and there is no desire to add various means to it, then you can use a little trick. Pour the required amount of gel polish onto a piece of foil and add a few drops of topcoat to them, then mix to the desired consistency. The advantage of this method is that the result is immediately visible.
  • Remover for gel polishes. It is similar in effect to the means for the "reanimation" of shellac, as well as alcohol, but disposable. The gel diluted in this way lies unevenly on the nail, and after a few days is generally unsuitable for further use.
  • Special products for dilution. This is an ideal option, as manufacturers of thinners made sure that shellac does not lose its properties and texture. Irisk, El Corazon can be distinguished from low-cost brands, and from the more expensive segment Rio Profi, Masura, and Severina are the most popular.

You can use a very simple way to make a more gel gel Polish at home, without using any means. It is necessary to pour hot water into any container and put a bottle of gel polish there. Water should be poured so that it covers up to the middle of the bottle. Thus, it is sufficient to hold the bottle for about 2 minutes. If shellac is still thick, then the procedure should be repeated.

Important! In no case can not be used to dilute the usual acetone - this tool is only suitable for classic varnishes, and gel varnish just spoil.

How to store?

Although gel polish is durable and durable, unlike regular nail polish, it is also subject to hardening. Although it is possible to dilute thick shellac, it is still better to prevent it from drying in time by using it properly and storing it. To extend the life of shellac, you must adhere to the following rules for its storage:

  • close the lid tightly - during prolonged contact with oxygen, the structure of shellac changes, as a result of which its strength weakens;
  • before applying, do not shake the jar, but gently “roll” it in your palms, as a result of “shaking” bubbles form, which then do not allow to achieve a smooth coating; if the bubbles still form, it is necessary to open the bottle and leave it in this form until they disappear;
  • do not leave the remnants of shellac on the neck of the bottle, and remove them with a lint-free cloth;
  • Store in a dark place with a low temperature - the maximum temperature is 26 degrees. Despite numerous recommendations, it is still not worth keeping the lacquer in the fridge, because sudden changes in temperature affect it badly;
  • do not place close to a UV lamp, microwave or gas stove; the heat they emit is detrimental to shellac.

Pay attention to the expiration date. Often the manufacturer specifies two dates: the first means the shelf life until the opening of the jar, and the second after the opening. It is not recommended to purchase gel polishes that have already been opened. Thus, if you select a suitable place for storing gel varnishes, do not forget to put them in place in time, they will last a long time. To dilute the thickened varnish, the optimal solution is to use a special liquid.
