The feminine inconsistency is such that the owners of straight hair often dream of curly hair, but those who have a curly-haired head often strive for it. And indeed, alternating styling on straight hair with a hairstyle based on the creation of curls, you can safely claim to individuality and originality. In addition, the creation of curls allows you to "tame" disobedient lush hair, sticking out, as a rule, in different directions.

But when creating such a hairdressing masterpiece, the beautiful half of humanity faces certain difficulties:

  • the installation requires a considerable amount of time;
  • it is rather difficult to create uniform curls all over the head.

In this connection, the leading active lifestyle of the beautiful half of humanity, without having enough time for laying, resorts to the help of a perm. Then the question arises: what to choose curlers?

Features

The choice of curlers or so-called permors in the hairdressing environment for perm depends on the desired end result.

If you want to get small curls, then the curlers should be of small diameter. And, accordingly, large curlers will give large curls, which are especially popular with women today (the small perm was in vogue in 70-80 of the XX century).

It should also be noted that in many respects the choice of bobbins depends on the condition and structure of the hair. For example, it is better for owners of hard hair to use hair curlers of a larger diameter, on which it is preferable to wind small strands of hair, otherwise curls due to gravity will turn out to be poorly curled and will quickly fall apart.

Thin hair, in turn, "loves" small bobbins, which makes the hair elastic, and such a curl lasts longer.

Soft fluffy hair is better to twist on medium-sized curlers, which, as a rule, allows you to gently arrange curls sticking in different directions.

As for the length of the hair, one rule works here: It is preferable to use the entire length of the bobbin. That is, for short hair choose short hair curlers, and for long hair - elements of maximum length. The fact is that curlers designed for curling short hair, taper to the middle and widen around the edges. This form allows you to avoid protruding ends in different directions. The shape of the curlers for long hair is the same, which contributes to the creation of uniform curls.

It should be noted that a concept such as the American Curl, characterized by uniform and deep curls, appeared relatively recently. To create such a hairstyle, spiral-shaped bobbins are used.

Types and characteristics

In fact, the variety of bobbins is not limited only by length or diameter. The devices for curling and differ also by the form, material of manufacture, as well as the method of fixation. As for the material, the curlers are wooden, metal (which is extremely undesirable to use for chemical perm), rubber, less often plastic and foam rubber.

It should be noted that professionals prefer wooden curlers. Firstly, hair dries on them faster, and, secondly, using them completely excludes the likelihood of any kind of oxidative processes that are not entirely beneficial for the hair structure.

The diameter of the bobbins varies from 6 mm to 25.

Thin curlers are suitable for short or loose hair, and for thick and long hair, curlers of a larger diameter are used, depending on the desired depth of the future curl.

If we talk about the form of whooping cough, it is represented by a fairly large number of variations: from short to long and from straight to spiral and conical.

  1. Classic they are small bobbins with a smooth surface, on which there are several rows of holes for better distribution of the chemical substance, and later, thanks to the holes, the hair dries faster.
  2. Classic curlers with a smooth surface helical curlers are opposed, which are usually used for vertical curling. Here are the so-called American curlers for American perms. Their peculiarity consists in rather wide deep spirals, allowing to make tight tight curls.
  3. Papilotki - these are foam rubber bobbins with a flexible metal core inside. This design is good because the bobbin quickly takes any shape. On papilotki hair of any length can be curled.
  4. Japanese sticks, having a sufficiently large diameter (about 25 mm), allow you to make volume curls.

The use of a variety of bobbins is determined by the desired result and certain rules of use.

Terms of use

Experienced hairdressers evaluate hair length, its structure and condition before using hair curlers. The article has already noted that hair curlers are used for short and thin hair, which will allow you to wrap up the entire hair to the maximum. As a rule, in such cases it is appropriate to use bobbins of small diameter. Otherwise, there is a possibility that badly wrapped tips will stick out in different directions. Spiral curlers, as a rule, are not used here. Since, firstly, their length is designed for long hair and medium. And, secondly, whatever one may say, and the ends of short hair will not be able to wrap completely, which is why in the end they will stick in different directions.

To vary the curls of short haircuts, you can use bobbins that are narrowed to the center.that will allow not only to add volume at the root, but also to make a deep curl, the tip of which will also be twisted. Or it would be appropriate to use cone-shaped bobbins, thanks to which you can get a deep basal curl that expands towards the end of the curl, which also gives volume to the hairstyle.

A little more diverse assortment of bobbins for long hair. They can be made as a normal perm, and vertical. The peculiarity is that long hair can be curled both vertically and horizontally. The difference is that curls horizontally curled most often fall down in chaotic curls, and this hairstyle has to be laid.

While the curls, wrapped vertically, are already formed vertical curls that do not need to be laid carefully.

It will be quite enough after combing the hair wound in this way to slightly “wrinkle” with its styling gel or mousse, which quickly gives shape to a curl.

And, finally, the last important stroke of using one or another type of bobbin is clips or so-called clamps for clamping hair. The clips of classic bobbins are elastic with or without a lath. Using curlers with a strap is appropriate for short hair, because it presses the tip of the hair so that it does not stick out in the future.

Long hair or medium-length hair is better to curl on curlers without a strap, as with an inept approach most often a room of hair appears that spoils the look of the finished hairstyle.Nowadays, as an alternative to hair curlers on an elastic band, clamps on bobbins are widely used (clamps are acquired even if the elastic bands deteriorate, stretching, and the bobbins themselves are still quite appropriate for use).

The marked device is made of durable and elastic silicone, which allows you to firmly fix the hair. In order for the clamps to serve as long as possible, their choice should be compared with the length of the bobbin. The manufacturer noted on the packaging for the bobbins how long the clamps are.

Safety

The main rule of safety says: do not use metal curlers for chemical perm. In addition, there are a few rules, the observance of which will allow you to avoid abundant hair loss, as well as preserve the original appearance of the curl as long as possible.

  1. Before starting work it is imperative to conduct a test sample of the body's reaction. If after applying a chemical preparation on the skin, a pronounced redness appeared, then the procedure will most likely have to be suspended.
  2. If you keep the solution too long, it will cause the hair to break. Also, it can become brittle due to excessively tight twisting on the curlers (and if you twist it lightly, the curl will turn out to be uneven along the entire length).
  3. You should not plan staining for 3 weeks before curling and 3 weeks after it, as this may cause hair loss.
  4. It is not recommended to wash your hair for 3 days after curling, which will allow the substance to gain a foothold on the structure of hair.
  5. And the last thing that many probably know, but still I want to remind you: the use of expired substances is strictly prohibited.
