The owner of even the most beautiful straight hair at some point may be tired of the usual look and want to look at her curly. Although there are various ways to accomplish this, the “large curls” perm remains one of the most popular.

What it is?

Perm "large curls", as you might guess, is called that, because as a result of the hair lies beautiful waves of fairly large size. The essence of the procedure lies in the fact that aggressive substances first destroy the chemical bonds of hair keratin - the scales open up and lose their elasticity. Then, thanks to the retainer and curlers, curls are formed, and the connection inside the hair is restored. The timing of the chemistry depends on such factors as the desired appearance, type of curling, as well as the condition of the hairline. Curled hair is not allowed to blow-dry, comb or style. In the first few days it is also not recommended to wash the hair.

A well-performed procedure and proper hair care will keep curls for several months.

Experts identify several types of perm. Acidic results in long lasting and excellent looking results. However, the hair will suffer pretty badly and after the procedure it will be withered. You can try to solve the problem by abundant and regular use of masks for hair. An acidic perm is recommended to owners of dense and hard strands that retain their shape and will not stretch in the root zone.

Alkaline curling has a relatively low cost and a more gentle effect on the hair. The effect of the procedure will last only 3 months, but the curls will be minimally affected and will look as natural as possible. Alkaline perm is recommended for thin, light strands, but on straight and hard ones it will not last more than 30 days.

The curl, called neutral, is suitable for any hair, even weak and damaged. This happens due to allantoin, which is present in the composition. The waves look soft and natural, do not disappear until the end of the fourth month.

Amino-acid perm also belongs to the gentle, as it contains in its composition proteins, not traumatic curls. This variety is suitable for thin, light strands, the length of which varies from short to medium. The validity of such a perm is limited to 30 days.

Silk perm is usually done on either medium or long hair. It also contains proteins, but silks, which are responsible for softening the curls and restoring the altered structure. Withstands silk perm for about two months.

Finally there is Japanese perm, which is often carried out in parallel with dyeing or highlighting. The composition of the solution used contains a special lipid-protein complex, which is responsible for strengthening the hair. In this case, the curls last for three to five months.

In general, any perm is not recommended for sparse hair, as well as short strands - because in this case, instead of curls, there will be only the effect of pomp.

An important point: from the moment of dyeing the hair to the perm, 14 days should pass, with the exception of the Japanese method.

Advantages and disadvantages

Perm "large curls" is a long-term, which is one of its main advantages. The shape of the curls does not fall apart even in the rain and snow. It is better to use this technique for women with oily hair, since during the procedure the excess fat will be eliminated. Recommended “large curls” and owners of fine hairs, which, as a result, become larger and more magnificent. Chemical perm does not need to be laid, and therefore, to spend time and money on fixing means.

The disadvantages of chemistry include thinning and drying of the hair after curling, the possibility of allergies or even burns. Some girls also note unnecessary clarification of the order.

It is important to highlight the contraindications of this procedure:

  • perm is not recommended for women in the position, as well as in the period of lactation;
  • an obstacle is the identified allergic reactions to chemical constituents.

What need curlers?

Curlers or bobbins used for perm should have a large diameter. The simplest solution is to purchase plastic files, such as boomerangs or cones. Having added special wavy plates to the bobbins, it will be possible to start implementing a retro hairstyle.

Preparation for the procedure

Before curling be sure to check the manifestation of an allergic reaction to the used drug. To do this, it is enough to apply the solution on the bend of the elbow, the wrist or the area behind the ear and see what happens in the next quarter of an hour. The absence of itching, rash or redness suggests that its use is safe. You should definitely wash your head, but only with shampoo, which contains natural oils. This should be done with the utmost care, without any massage or rubbing of the scalp. The fact is that such actions can lead to microtraumas or other damages and, as a result, to unpleasant sensations during the use of chemicals.

If necessary, you must first shorten the hair. The thinner the hair itself, the less its required length. The same applies to thick long strands - it will be extremely difficult to curl them.

Execution technology

As it was already said above, it is recommended to carry out the “large curls” perm only for long or medium hair, and with short hair it is still better to abstain. Although if you have a great desire, you can try. To do this at home, you will need a special chemical composition "Lokon", as well as large bobbins and going along with it in the composition of fixative. In addition, basic tools are useful: a container made of glass or plastic, a brush and a comb, towels, protective gloves, vinegar and cream. The latter is useful in order to protect the skin of the ears and at the junction of the hair and frontal zone.

It is better to secure the bang immediately with a barrette, since if you want to curl it and want to, then you will have to use a tool of lower concentration and a booster of a different size. The entire hair mass is subdivided into a front and a pair of side sections. Strands are wound on bobbins so that the width of the former does not exceed the width of the latter. Curling method is selected depending on the length of the hair.

If it is short, then the hair is treated first with a special mixture, and then wound. The average length implies the reverse order: first wind up, then wet. Finally, long strands are processed in a mixed way. The ends are moistened, then curled, and after the mixture all the bobbins are covered.

The treated head is wrapped with plastic or hides under a cap of the same material, and is warmed over the top with a towel. Then you have to stand from a third of an hour to 40 minutes depending on the condition of the hair.Approximately half of this period, you can deploy one or two bobbins and see what happened. Once the curls reached the necessary degree of curl, it's time to wash the hair together with bobbins. After drying, a fixative is applied with a towel.

After five minutes, the bobbins can be removed, and again fixer on the hair for another five minutes. After this, the head is again to be washed, using warm water, in which a little vinegar is diluted.

Having wetted the strands with a towel, they should be allowed to dry naturally.

Care

To curls did not disappear after a couple of days, and the romantic hairstyle continued to please its owner, you must adhere to several rules of care for chemically curled hair. Weakened hair that has become too dry and easily broken should be treated with products with different compositions. You will need to purchase shampoos, masks and balsams containing collagen, panthenol and silk proteins. The tips of the hair will have to be trimmed in time and regularly treated with serums that prevent the cross-section. In the first days after curling, it is not allowed to wash the head at all.

Further, the procedure should be carried out with the use of solutions with a gentle composition and be sure to end with a natural rinsing, for example, chamomile or nettle solution. Ideally, the curls should be dried naturally, only slightly wetting the moisture with a soft towel. If the rejection of the hair dryer is not possible, then it is recommended to choose cold air and combine it with a diffuser. Going to bed with an undying head is absolutely not recommended.

Large curls are combed with a comb with rare teeth, which is able to immediately form a beautiful curl shape. Massage brush in this situation only hurts, ugly fluffed strands. At least once a week you will have to make a restorative mask based on honey or aloe vera juice. In addition, it would be good to use natural oils - for example, burdock, peach or almond.

Curls should be protected from direct sunlight, coarse metal accessories or the same comb. If possible, avoid tight braids and tails, and leave hair loose.
