However, the lucky chance allowed the breed not only to be preserved, but also radically change the attitude to such cats. The animals attracted the attention of scientists, who were on the island at that time, and took several individuals to America, where further breeding work was carried out. In 1974, the descendants of the representatives of Singapore cats that were previously taken out were brought back, after which the animals began to take part in exhibitions.

Animals willingly enter into games with other pets, regardless of whether it is a dog or even a decorative rat.

Singapore cats, for all their independence, are very attached to their breeder, so they can be constant companions in all his household affairs. Animals are smart, so easy to train. If desired, such a pet will be able to teach simple commands, as well as the tail members of the family can remember their nickname and respond to it.

Singapore meows very rarely, animals are unobtrusive in terms of living together, therefore, in the absence of a host, they are able to find something for themselves and entertainment. Domesticated cats have an innate hunting instinct, a small weight and size will not interfere with the desire to catch prey.

Conditions of detention

The main point concerning the content of the animal is a properly chosen diet. So, Singaporean food must be strictly controlled, because animals can eat uncontrollably, which will cause weight gain.For those cats that will eat industrial feed, the breeder is recommended to strictly control the daily rate of his consumption by the cat, avoiding an increase in its quantity. One kilogram of animal weight is required for more than 25-30 grams of feed per feeding. The optimal industrial food will be products that have in their composition not more than 30% of meat ingredients. With this diet, the cat should always have free access to drinking water.

Pets who will eat regular food should be provided with all the necessary vitamins and microelements. That is why In the diet of cats should be present such products:

  • lean meat in boiled form;
  • cereals;
  • quail eggs;
  • medium-fat cottage cheese and sour cream;
  • boiled vegetables;
  • fruits.

Feed Singapore should be 5-6 times a day; if the pet is still small, then from the industrial feed pick up wet or canned products in the form of pate. An adult individual will be satisfied with two feedings per day.

There is a list of products that are contraindicated for animals:

  • sausages and smoked meats;
  • pork;
  • River fish;
  • any milk;
  • confectionery.

As a supplement to natural food, the owner of cats is recommended to use mineral and vitamin complexes, which can be purchased at a vet pharmacy. As shows the experience of the maintenance of Singaporean cats, from the fodder of industrial production premium class products are more suitable for them.

There is no need for special care for the coat of the animal: as a rule, cats cope with hygiene on their own, however, to improve the appearance of the wool, a breeder should sometimes comb a pet. It is necessary to remove dead hair. Usually such manipulations are carried out once a week. Shedding in animals takes place without any inconvenience to the breeder, most often the owner does not even notice the beginning and end of this process.

Singaporean cats do not need bathing. Such a need may arise only if a small pet participates in specialized exhibitions. Require the attention of the animal's ears, because they stand out for their size, due to which they become a kind of target for dust and other contaminants. Every week, the owner should inspect his cat and remove the accumulated dirt with a damp cotton pad; You can use cotton buds and a special ear cleaner that can be purchased at the pet store.

Eyes require more frequent care, so they are treated with wet sponges daily, it is also allowed to use decoctions of chamomile, calendula or hypericum.

Today in vetaptekah you can find wet wipes, which are designed to care for the eyes of pets.

A Singaporean cat breeder will need a claw cutter, which will have to cut off the growing claws from a small pet as they grow. Usually such procedures are carried out twice a month. Also, an animal can help itself to waste them - for this in a dwelling it is worth to place two or three claws.

Hygienic measures relating to Singapore, involve the care of the oral cavity of the animal. Pet teeth are cleaned several times a week with a soft brush.

These animals are allocated with inborn cleanliness, therefore very quickly they are trained to meet the need in a specially designated tray. However, breeders of this breed recommend to inexperienced owners to purchase a closed construction for the animal, since during these periods it will need privacy. As a rule, animals adapt to the use of the toilet with any filler.

By virtue of the developed intelligence of the animal, the pet will be able to relieve the need immediately to the toilet. For these purposes, the owner is recommended to purchase a special pad.

Since the animals are quite active and playful, the breeder will need to provide leisure for small cats in the home. In order for an animal to have something to occupy, it is better for him to install various ladders, tunnels in the house, to purchase several toys, cabins and hammocks.

Singapore cats can be taken out for a walk, but in this case it is worth remembering that animals react very badly to cold and drafts. That is why it is recommended to go outside with an animal only during the warm season.

Health

In a miniature cat breed, growth and development are rather slow. Usually, full maturity of singapore reaches closer to 24 months. However, even such a slow development does not prevent animals of this breed to be famous for their excellent health. Among the frequent problems can be noted the increased sensitivity to vaccination, so all vaccinations in Singapore should be done only in good veterinary clinics. De-worming and medical examinations for miniature pets are required.

In order not to provoke the emergence of problems with the health of your pet, you should avoid drafts in the room where the cat lives.

Signs that the animal has a cold will be:

  • discharge from the nose and eyes, which the owner must notice in the process of conducting daily hygiene procedures;
  • apathy and inactivity, which are not characteristic of this breed;
  • sneezing and increasing body temperature.

The presence of at least one of the above symptoms is a good reason to immediately contact a veterinarian. Self-medication in this case is not recommended.

It is necessary to highlight the main ailments that can occur in the breed in the light of the lack of genetic diversity.

Infertility and inertia of the uterus

Most often, illnesses affect female individuals. As a result of the characteristics of the muscular tissue of the organs of the animal, which are not able to decrease in the proper rhythm and with due force, cats may experience problems with natural childbirth. In this case, a caesarean section is performed on pregnant animals.

Lack of pyruvate kinase

This ailment concerns genetic failures, as a result of which a deficiency of glycolytic enzyme is observed in the body of pets, which causes hemolytic anemia. Signs of this disease will be changes in the behavior of the animal, when the cat becomes sluggish, appetite deteriorates, hair loss is observed. Such a disease can be sluggish, however, there are cases of rapid development of the disease, which can be a serious threat to the life of a representative of the cat family.

In cats of the Singaporean breed, there may also be vices in appearance. These include:

  • defects in the structure of the tail, which will be noticeable only when probing;
  • dark color of the villi at the base;
