The dog is, of course, a man’s friend, but one should not forget that it is directly related to the wolf, which is a dangerous predator, and an empty stomach can attack anyone, including humans. At the same time, there are completely harmless breeds that can be considered relatively safe due to both appeasable nature and due to their modest size, while other pets were created specifically for aggression and have impressive dimensions.

Some dogs are much more dangerous than most of their relatives, and this is a fact that must be taken into account when choosing a four-legged friend.

Features

Especially for readers, we have compiled a rating that allows us to understand which animals are considered the most dangerous and potentially aggressive. At the same time, we do not distribute places in the rating and do not claim strict compliance with any statistics, and for a number of reasons.

The main reason is that To make an unconditionally correct list of potentially dangerous breeds is not possible. It is not very clear how ideally you should evaluate the aggressiveness of dogs.

The authors of many calculations are oriented on the statistics of attacks and killings, but because of this, even Labradors appear in some selections, which are usually perceived as calmness and kindness itself. This criterion can not be a priori correct, because a rare angry Labrador can become a killer due to its impressive size, but smaller doggies are usually much angrier and more aggressive, it’s just easier to fight back.

In addition, a similar statistics never take into account the prevalence of the breed. It is clear that in such selections the most popular species of dogs will always appear, and those that are represented literally by a couple of dozen individuals will not be found there, even if they are extremely ferocious beasts.

We must not forget that In many ways, the degree of aggression also depends on how the dog was raised. It was not for nothing that the old song sang about the fact that a dog can be biting, but this is from a dog's life - a significant percentage of attacks and killings committed by animals is a direct response to bullying by the owner.

It is clear that some breeds are more willing to stand up for themselves and will definitely not tolerate humiliation even from their own owner, but theoretically you can even freak out the most peaceful pet - if you try hard.

Among other things fundamental importance and training. As you know, a guard or fighting dog must be specially trained aggression. If she grew up in a nursery where the puppy was taken care of, and then fell into good hands, then she, without encountering the cruelty of others, is unlikely to think much about dominating others. This is also an important point affecting the statistics - perhaps the dog itself is not as bad as its owner, who taught the beast aggressive behavior and was distracted, forgetting to control his ward.

All these discrepancies lead to the fact that a clear definition of a potentially dangerous dog simply does not exist. For example, in December 2018, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation compiled a list of potentially dangerous dogs, which immediately included 69 breeds, which are undesirable to walk without a leash. This list, adopted in March 2019 by the State Duma of the Russian Federation and approved by the government, was reduced to just 13 breeds - this shows that different people may have a fundamentally different attitude to the concept of an unsafe animal.

If we also take into account the legislation of different countries, we may face the fact that there are much more discrepancies - foreigners may include dogs in their lists that are not on the Russian list, and vice versa.

Given all the above, we have compiled own list, which is wider than the one adopted by the State Duma, but less extensive than the Ministry of Internal Affairs originally compiled. Perhaps this is the right approach because the law prescribes walking dangerous dogs strictly on a leash, but an aggressive pet is the main danger for the owner and his household, and therefore neither the collar nor the muzzle situation is completely solved.

Top of the most evil breeds

In our combined rating were dangerous for the human species of dogs, the presence of threats from which is recognized in Russia and around the world. Someone may challenge certain positions of the collection, but we still advise such dogs to keep their ears open - at least during walks one should be careful to ensure that the pet does not have the opportunity to show aggression towards others. Recall that there are no positions in our rating, so the presented dogs are not sorted according to any criterion of danger or aggressiveness.

Tosa Inu

The first representative of the list is a prime example of as an animal, it may not be included in the Russian danger tops simply because it is relatively rare. In fact this beast is quite aggressive, because our neighbors, the Japanese, brought out this large animal especially for dog fights at the end of the last century.. In most cases, a dog with a respectable appearance behaves calmly and unobtrusively, and will not rush into the attack without a direct order from the owner.

Still need tough to raise such a puppy, accustomed to attack on command and only on itOtherwise, the danger to a four-legged person on the part of a stranger or another dog may cause an aggressive reaction, and this beast, believe me, will be the winner.

American bandog

In principle, such a dog is very similar to an ordinary bulldog, and those, as you know, often turn out to be bandits and hooligans. The name of the breed, bred some half a century ago, literally translates as “chain dog”, and such pets, as you know, are aimed at defending one’s own to the last. A properly trained individual can protect both the territory and a living person, and God forbid it will seem that you are a threat to the object entrusted - This pile of muscles is rapidly running and does not release caught prey from the jaws.

Cane Corso

This huge dog enters in most ratings of the most powerful dogs in the worldYes, it is not surprising for such and such dimensions. Modern scientists believe that the distant ancestors of the representatives of this breed were still fighting dogs of ancient Rome, which means that the fighting qualities were brought up in these animals for at least two thousand years. Modern canoe Corso were still created not for fighting, but for the protection of the territory and the protection of man, but such a beast will not fail, no matter who is the enemy.

It is impossible to call such a pet very aggressive, but it is also not worth provoking it with inappropriate behavior - it can cause serious injuries even due to carelessness.

Bull terrier

As it is supposed to representatives of terriers, the bull terrier is a hunting dog. He is well pumped up even in comparison with most of his relatives, but the abundance of massive muscles does not prevent the dog from running very fast and overtaking any rival who later realized that he was in vain today went this way.

Like most terriers such a dog is not particularly aggressive towards people - on the contrary, he needs to communicate and, with the right upbringing, he easily comes in contact with unfamiliar people, if the owner does not have any objections. Another thing is that any small animals for these dogs is perceived as prey, which means that owners of cats and smaller dogs will have to constantly look at you.

Rhodesian Ridgeback

Perhaps, in terms of wildlife, there is no more dangerous region than tropical Africa, and yet this breed was bred as a hunting region specifically for these places. In the 30s of the last century, the severity of this animal was legendary - it was believed that such a friend was able to guard the prey in the absence of the owner, even in the conditions of the savannah, driving anyone who wanted to eat fresh meat, including lions.

True or not, there is no smoke without fire, and this information allows judging correctly about the fearlessness and possibilities of the ridgeback. To raise such a dog with the whip method is unacceptable, because it will not lead to anything, except for the growing aggression capable of getting out of control.

In general, this dog is calm, but it is better for strangers not to try to establish contact with it.

Dogo Argentino

Argentina has vast unoccupied territories, well suited for hunting, and about a hundred years ago they decided to acquire their own breed of hunting dogs, capable of solving typical local problems.

Breeders connected to breeding representatives of ten different breeds and got an excellent hunter, who does not think about the size of the enemy, and he can be a predator, snapping pretty confidently. For the sake of curiosity, the dog was several times exposed in battles against purely fighting breeds, and even the Argentines often win in them, so it’s better not to anger this animal.

Boerboel

This breed is still not even recognized by the International Canine Federation, but enjoys a certain popularity among dog breeders. It is impossible to say that these dogs reciprocate on the enhanced love from a person - on the contrary, recently statistics show an increase in the attacks of such dogs on people.

This is another "African", derived specially as a bodyguardtherefore, the pet recognizes only one owner, to whom it is very devoted.

Experts say that training for such a pet should be very tough and exhausting, otherwise you should not be surprised if the dog misunderstands the situation and snaps at one of your friends who wishes to greet you by the hand.

Gul dong

This dog has the same sharp and hot-tempered character, as the Pakistanis, who brought him not just like that, but to participate in demonstration battles. The main purpose of this animal - just clashes with opponents, any other properties were not specifically included in it, because it is quite difficult and problematic to train a dog, teaching him the norms of behavior, and not to occupy him with aggressiveness.

If you are not afraid of difficulties, you can make an excellent guard or watchman from such a beast, but experts advise not to start a Pakistani bulldog to those who do not have an impressive experience of dealing with fighting dogs. You will never be sure that you have finally pacified the irrepressible energy of the ward, so you will have to work with him tirelessly.

Basenji

This dog looks very cute, and it is difficult to imagine that he can be a serious danger, but, like some other representatives of this list, the dog is of African origin, and therefore must be ready to withstand a rival of any complexity.

What is interesting, it was the Africans themselves who were taking it out - at least, very similar animals were found in them long before the Black Continent finally conquered European colonialists. Today this breed is considered one of the most ancient and at the same time is considered one of the most stubborn in the world in terms of training. This avid hunter is virtually out of control, and therefore represents a great danger to any small living creatures, of which there are so many in modern cities.

St. Bernard

This is someone who was hard to suspect of being aggressive, because it is the St. Bernards - they are after all working as professional lifeguards in the Swiss Alps, taking victims from under the collapsed avalanches.

Most often, such a dog is described as friendly and very calmbut it should be noted that this is not a genetically determined characteristic, but a proper upbringing that needs to be provided in childhood. If this is not done, a huge and strong pet will be aggressively disposed towards strangers, and especially to smaller breeds of their fellow tribesmen.

American Bulldog

Oddly enough, today such a dog is not considered to be too aggressive - the main danger comes from other, later varieties of the bulldog. This one appeared more than a hundred years ago in the USA - it was brought out by farmers, who needed to protect their own fields from any external encroachments.

The beast instinctively considers himself the master of the territory, he is self-confident and stubborn, and therefore simply will not allow a stranger or another dog any extra liberties. This is the dog who, figuratively speaking, does not attack, but it will not allow you to leave, but you will twitch - punish you for impudence.

Therefore, the animal needs to be raised from early childhood.

German dog

Such a favorite impresses the imagination with its gigantic size - it is he who holds the main records in terms of the size of the dog. The dog is a born hunter, because it is more dangerous for other animals than for people.

At the same time, animals of hunting breeds are often perceived as smaller than themselves as the prey of almost any living creatures, and therefore children should be more closely watched so that those not too provoked this whopper. An animal is usually not considered too aggressive, but the size of the animal itself often leads to the fact that the dog only wants to scare or play, and causes injury.

Otherwise, they love him - for example, he became a heraldic symbol of the American state of Pennsylvania, although it was not derived there.

Brazilian Fila

This animal resembles a lion in body structure and color, and although the lean figure betrays a recognized athlete, the muzzle is misleading - it seems pretty cute, and the whole dog is perceived as completely harmless. Naturally, this is a mistake because the breed was created specifically to get a strict guard, who will not give anyone the descent and will defend his master to the end.

This dog does not believe in strangers fundamentally and trying to remake it is almost meaningless - the distrust is in its genes. There are many cases when even exhibition animals are not used to the situation, when there are a lot of people around them - they react angrily to the violation of their own personal space, and attack both viewers and judges.

Canary Great Dane

This beast has such an appearance that when meeting it immediately becomes clear - such a dog should be respected, and it’s good if it doesn’t feed you aggression. The breed was created in the Canary Islands not for fighting, as one might have thought under the impression of her appearance, but as a shepherd who looks after herds in the absence of man.

Nevertheless, even this kind of work suggests that it is better for a stranger not to approach, and therefore, today, Canarians are often used to protect a territory or person. In both cases they are very attached and ready to defend their own to death. Due to such characteristics, this breed in recent years and is experiencing a second youth.

American Staffordshire Terrier

This is someone who has recently been demonized, as it is a representative of this breed, which is not surprising - the statistics of the attacks of this beast turns out to be simply frightening. The hype in the press has reached such a level that some radicals are proposing to completely destroy this breed - in their opinion, this is the only way to finally stop the attacks.

Experts say that this is inflection, because a well-educated staff is both sociable and friendly, and most importantly, it is distinguished by unlimited devotion to the owner and will easily give up his own life for his sake. According to them, the reason for the aggression on the part of the representatives of the breed lies only in the wrong upbringing, but this does not negate the fact that such dogs are by nature quite evil.

Boxer

The dogs of this German breed are contradictory - on the one hand, they are considered fighting dogs which, in principle, are not too kind and agreeable, on the other - they are called the most good-natured among all members of their category..

The big plus of such an animal is that it is amenable to training, which means that it is possible to level the aggression of the pet, replacing it with proper education and rules of decency. However, all this is only a theory, but in practice we see that the beast does not shy away from attacking people, even if this is due to the wrong approach to training.

Bullmastiff

This dog was bred to solve very serious problems - initially it had to guard the diamond mines in South Africa, and those were always a real magnet for numerous intruders who wanted easy and quick money. Accordingly, the dog was taken out with a specific set of desired characteristics - it should be both large and strong, and peremptory in matters of upholding its own.

In general, bullmastiffs are usually not considered evil or aggressive, however, in the entire history such dogs repeatedly attacked for people. Although, in fairness, this could be their direct responsibility in the workplace.

Today, such animals for the original purpose are not used anywhere else, except for all the same diamond mines.

Doberman

A dog of German origin is distinguished not only by its impressive size, but also by its own mind - this breed is characterized not only by brute force, but also by the ability to act most reasonably in this or that situation. The elegant beast is devoted to its owner and was bred specifically to protect the territory or its owner.

Dog aggressiveness is not always manifested - even if an intruder is identified, she is usually smart enough to simply detain the criminal and attract the attention of the person who will decide the fate of the person caught. However, it is important not to let such a pet know that you are resisting his will, otherwise a strong and confident friend of a person will not wait for the owner, but will fix the problem on his own.

Rottweiler

Another dog that gained notoriety inappropriately aggressive, although initially the breed was bred as a service dog, which means that it must be obedient and ready to carry out any commands. The exact timing of the breeding of these dogs is unknown, but there are many unconfirmed legends that they have left a significant mark on history - for example, they took direct part in the Seven Years War.

The animal is perfect for the protection of a territory or a person, it is able to patrol an object tirelessly for many hours, but it often goes too far in terms of making aggressive decisions against any violators.

In the conditions of the city, the problem of their maintenance is that the pet does not always understand the essence of public places where none of the closely located people actually violate anything.

Alabai

Another dog, the problem of which is at the same time in large sizes and the ability to go the wrong way in case of improper upbringing. The animal has a confident character, it will not give anyone the descent.and therefore it turns out to be an excellent guard, but this is only if the training was successful and correct at a puppy age.

Ignoring the rules for raising such dogs or simply not giving it enough attention, the owner risks being left alone with a huge and uncontrollable dog, which, not being accustomed to human domination, can respond with aggression to an attempt to pacify it, even if it is a master.

The beast also requires special conditions of detention - it is not customary to keep it on a chain, but a spacious aviary will be needed.

Caucasian Shepherd Dog

Some experts are inclined to believe that this breed has a two-thousand-year history and was bred specifically to engage in herding in mountain conditions. Such a dog is very clever - it can cope with the herd, which has a huge number of heads, but at the same time the dog has a heightened sense of responsibility towards its owner, and therefore is extremely suspicious of attempts at rapprochement on the part of any strangers.

The essence of the training is largely to socialize the animal, because in the conditions of the modern city the dog will have to get used to, it is impossible to quarrel with everyone around.

German Shepherd

In most cases, this dog is considered one of the most faithful helpers of a person - today it is the most popular service dog, differing well-developed mind, learnability and much-needed physical qualitiesnecessary for the detention of any criminals and enemies.

We usually see ideally trained animals that do not allow themselves to show aggression to a greater extent than is necessary for detention, and even then only at the command of the owner or in a situation to which they are specially trained. However, a certain readiness for aggression in such a dog is laid, and if it is not sent in the right direction and limited, it can be uncontrollable.

Pit bull

American experts believe that there are no dogs more dangerous than pit bulls, despite the fact that these dogs still do not have official status in the international federation of cynologists.

The animal has a high degree of muscle development, and although it is relatively small in size, it was taken out especially for baiting much larger opponents. The aggressiveness of the breed was high enough to use them also for exhibition fights, but the use of such dogs as faithful guards remains common.

It is enough even to evaluate the appearance of the beast from a photo, in order to understand it is not the friendliest pet, therefore it must be educated properly.

Alaskan malamute

This breed is a good example of how an animal can become aggressive from idleness. Such a dog was bred in the North specifically to drag a dog along - a constant movement in its blood. In recent decades, these dogs are increasingly being wound up by Southerners who like the pet's appearance, but they forget that a four-footed friend in the city has nowhere to put his irrepressible energy - the standard dog walk does not solve the problem at all.

At the same time, people from Alaska are not deprived of a hunting instinct, and they are hardly trained even by the main teams, and therefore they can easily spend the accumulated “extra” forces on an inappropriate hunt for the same cats.

Siberian Husky

All that has been said above about the Alaskan Malamute is equally true of this breed. Even for a work in a team that seems literally created for these animals, dogs need to be specially trained in socialization and discipline, thanks to which they will not make scandals with their fellow tribesmen. As for other people's gear, unaccustomed to strangers pet can easily begin to sort things out with them.

In urban conditions, the owner is able to completely miss this moment, and if his four-legged friend is not at least minimally accustomed to communicating with other animals, get ready that every walk along the street will turn into agony.

Wolftail

Absolutely wild invention of the Russian modernity not only did not receive recognition of cynologists, but also it is forbidden to cultivation in many countries. It will be quite difficult to get such a pet even in Russia - such a beast is literally a half-savage, because it is a cross between a dog and a wild wolf.

Such a specific origin affected the character, because Wolfcat today there are very few - for them and the demand is small, and the courage to buy it, many are usually not enough. The danger is largely in the unexplored and unpredictable animal - even the owner can not know what origin will prevail in his ward and what to do with the domestic dog, which suddenly realized its wolf essence.

Is it possible to get aggressive dogs?

In the Russian Federation, legislation does not impose strict restrictions on this issue - every person is free to acquire such a pet as he sees fit. Another thing is that you must clearly understand how you will manage the aggression of your ward, and yet the confidence that you are able to cope with such a task will not prevent you.

The owner of a potentially dangerous animal must understand that in case of any unpleasant consequences of the behavior of his dog, the responsibility will be borne not so much four-legged as his owner.

Concerning should consider in advance the moments related to the safety of people and animals around. Some breeds of dogs are so dangerous and uncontrollable that they may well be dangerous even for their own owner, especially if he does not understand how to deal with the ward correctly. Perhaps, a popular recommendation of specialists, indicating that your first dog should not be fighting or especially aggressive hunting, because it’s not a fact that you can handle it if you haven’t dealt with quadrupeds before.

When choosing a pet, carefully read the recommendations for its content.

In the above list, all dogs are prone to a certain degree of aggression, but some of them are relatively calm, easily get used to other people and are trained to make contact even with strangers, while others retain the features of wild ancestors, and therefore should be kept under strict control. In some breeds, a potential reason for aggression may even be insufficient walking, provoking an accumulation of aggression, which means it’s better to keep such a dog not in an apartment, but in a house with a large garden.

Such an animal is definitely not worth putting it on a chain - a spacious aviary or even free movement throughout the backyard territory is better suited to it, but only if the pet fails to escape beyond its limits in pursuit of a neighbor's cat. With other breeds, the situation may be simpler - they, having a pronounced watchdog instinct, do not mind the chain way of life and will not become angrier.

A completely separate topic is walking the pet. Although the law does not forbid you to start a dog of any breed, it is the owner who is responsible for ensuring the safety of other members of society and their pets.

According to the law passed in March 2019, Representatives of 13 dog breeds from now on must necessarily walk on a leash and in a muzzle. Even if you are sure of one hundred percent friendliness specifically of your dog, including in relation to strangers, the fact of walking without these accessories is a direct violation of current legislation, and therefore, may entail a punishment provided by law enforcement agencies.

How to raise animals?

Fans of breeding aggressive dog breeds like a mantra repeat the hackneyed phrase that the dog itself is only more or less prone to aggression, but the determining role in any case is played by upbringing and attitude to the animal. In other words, even the kindest little dog can be driven to madness by mocking her and provoking her, whereas a stern fighting dog, looking like the embodied essence of a threat, does not take a step without the permission of the owner, if he is properly brought up.

In the absolute majority of cases, this statement is true, therefore, choosing a potentially aggressive animal as a pet, you must understand how to train him properly and in no case ignore your duties, otherwise theoretically you can even become a victim.

The first thing to remember is that dogs are descended from wolves, and they are gregarious animals, with a strict hierarchy within the community.

No matter how individualistic your dog may seem, somewhere in the depths of your soul, he is morally ready to submit to a stronger leader, and it is you who must initially be in the role of this, not allowing the dog itself to take this niche. The authority of the leader for the animal is unquestioning - he can punish any misconduct, but must be fair.

If you have never had a dog of aggressive and independent breeds, it is best to connect a professional trainer to her education. Regardless of whether you decide to turn to a professional or try your own happiness, you need to bring up a doggie from a young age, while his personality is formed and he is still ready to accept the dictation of perception of reality.

It will be much more difficult to remake a grown-up dog - most likely, he will not consider the authority of a person to be unconditional, and may snap at responding to attempts to lead him.

Contrary to popular belief theoretically, it is possible to retrain even an adult dog, even though it turns out to be a very difficult task. In theory, the pack leader can change, and this is good news for those who are faced with a situation where the pet has grown up and does not recognize the primacy of individual family members over themselves.

The dog will behave like a terrorist: having caught once that its aggressive actions provoke the desired response, the animal will begin to “ride” on its owners. The dominance of the dog may begin to manifest itself even in minor manifestations - for example, you are not walking your pet, but in fact it is you. Another vivid example of an imbalance of authorities is when a dog has its own things that cannot be taken by anyone, but at the same time it does not recognize the presence of other people's things.

In animals, a leader change is decided by a banal fight, but this is not our method. If the dog starts to get out of control, show her that the benefits she needs simply cannot be obtained just like that. Start simple - if the dog obviously demands something from you, first give the command and do not react to the beast’s demands until your wish is fulfilled. Even with obedience, do not reward the animal immediately - wait a few seconds, showing your pet that they are closely watching him.

When the specified time expires, expressly approve the behavior of the dog - give him an edible reward, stroke or praise. To make submission a habit, train the animal constantly - all benefits, including with walking and feeding, should be performed only upon execution of the command.

In order for a dog to treat all family members normally, the rules must be followed by everyone - if one person spoils the pet, all the efforts of the others will go to waste.

In no case let the aggressive dog understand that you are weaker than her, and for this, never fulfill her wishes unquestioningly. A dog must learn that his wishes have only the form of a request and their obligatory satisfaction is not guaranteed, but may require in return obvious signs of obedience.

Remember an important rule: a leader for a dog always looks bigger and stronger, he cannot demonstrate his own weakness under the fear of losing his high status.

Canine experts say that during the game you can not kneel or lie down - By doing this you belittle yourself in the eyes of the animal, it no longer perceives you so big and terrible, and therefore, it can admit the idea of ignoring orders.

An even bigger mistake would be holding any power games with an animal belonging to an aggressive breed. - You may be defeating him while he is a puppy, but an older pet will sooner or later put the owner on the shoulder blades, and since then no commands will act. Choose non-aggressive games and remember that it is you who start and end them. To achieve the last requirement you must always stop the game before it bores the dog.

Wean the animal from the fact that it decides for itself where to sleep and when to eat. Do not allow your pet to start a favorite sofa or chair where he will sleep. - Determine the angle for the puppy and always drive him away from the wrong place, in principle, and shout at him for an attempt at outrage. The same goes for eating - if the feeder is located in the kitchen, teach the dog that he has nothing to do in the kitchen while the owners eat.
