Ribana is a practical and sought-after material and is widely used for tailoring and hats. The fabric is a knitted fabric made using the machine knitting technique.

What it is?

Ribana is considered one of the most popular types of knitwear and is a cotton material created using cross-knitting technology based on double weave. As a result of this method, both sides of the fabric are completely identical and look like a canvas bound in a small elastic band. The front and back loops alternate through one, giving the material aesthetics and neat appearance. The material turns out so elastic and elastic that sometimes it is called a lip elastic band.

Ribana is one of the cross-knitted or kulirnyh materials, and its production takes place on special knitting machines. The form of release of the fabric are rolls, the width of which varies from 55 to 130 cm. However, in addition to the roll version of the riban, it is often made by the method of circular knitting, with the formation of openwork and pressing patterns.

The variety of relief is achieved thanks to a special pattern of alternation of the front and back loops, which allows you to get a beautiful canvas with unusual weaving or perforation.

Composition and properties

Ribana belongs to the category of natural fabrics and is 100% cotton. However, to increase the wear, artificial fibers are often added to the composition. Their share, as a rule, is small and barely reaches five percent. Synthetic inclusions are represented by lycra, polyester, rayon and elastane. The presence of synthetic yarns gives Riban elasticity, makes it pleasant to the touch and helps to preserve the original forms after washing products. Riban clothes provide good air exchange and do not allow the body to overheat while wearing.

The most durable and durable is ribana with lycra and rubber thread. Things made from such a fabric are distinguished by maximum elasticity and are able to retain their original shape even after repeated washes. The density of the ribana is 190 g / m2, which allows it to occupy an intermediate place between similar interlock and cashcorse in its operational properties. An important point in the description of the ribana is its hygroscopicity.

The material is able to absorb well the moisture excreted by the body and, due to synthetic fibers, also evaporates it quickly and efficiently. It is this property that makes Riban an indispensable material when sewing children's and sportswear.

Advantages and disadvantages

High consumer demand and a large number of positive reviews of ribane due to a number of indisputable advantages of this material.

  1. The fabric does not cause allergic reactions, has good breathability and quickly removes sweat.
  2. Due to the presence of synthetic yarns and a special type of binding, the material returns to its original shape even in the case of strong stretching.
  3. High strength ribana significantly increases the life of things and allows them to remain attractive for a long time. In addition, the material is not prone to shedding and shrinkage, is resistant to the formation of pellets and is able to tolerate numerous washings.
  4. Fabric is absolutely unpretentious in leaving, easily washes off and does not demand special storage conditions.
  5. The high thermoregulatory properties of the material are due to the presence of air-filled microcavities in its structure. Because of what an air gap is created between the body and the tissue, ensuring the maintenance of optimally comfortable microclimate. As a result, the body does not overheat during exercise and does not freeze at rest.
  6. A wide color palette allows you to implement bold design ideas and bring them to life when creating collections of home and casual wear.

However, along with the obvious advantages, the riban still has disadvantages. Among the minuses should be noted the low resistance to fading and long (in comparison with synthetic materials) drying after washing. This may also include the need to observe certain rules when drying riban products.

Kinds

The classification of riban is made according to two criteria, of which the composition of the fabric is fundamental. On this basis, there are two types of material: natural and synthetic inclusions. The first type is represented by 100% cotton canvas, from which rompers, hats and blouses for babies are sewn. The second is called an eraser and is made with the addition of synthetic fibers. To enhance the decorative properties of the fabric, it is often produced with lurex and lace inserts, and to improve its heat-saving qualities - with a double fleece.

The second sign of the classification of ribana is a method of staining. In the production of clothes for newborns, unpainted white ribana is more often used, while fabric is dyed for sewing everyday, home and sportswear. According to this criterion, single-colored and printed canvas are distinguished.

Colored riban looks quite beautiful and has a large variety of patterns and shades. It can be both funny children's images, and contrasting stripes and geometric patterns.

Where is it used?

The most extensive use of ribana is sewing children's clothes. The lion's share of the summer and demi-season range are things made from this versatile material. Such a preference for manufacturers of children's clothing is due to the good demand for such things and their high performance properties. In addition to children's models, ribbons are used to sew women's and teenage underwear, decorating products with openwork, decorating with ribbons and beautiful inserts.

Often Ribana is used for sewing T-shirts, turtlenecks and sundresses, as well as for the manufacture of sports kits. Moreover, for the production of winter and demi-season models, ribanu with a pile is used, which makes it possible to obtain very light and at the same time warm and breathable clothing. Also ribana can sew cuffs and collars for windbreakers and jackets, home clothes and pajamas. In addition, knitwear is very often used in the production of children's and sports hats, home textiles and everyday things, as well as a grinding material in the processing of necks, cuffs and sleeves.

How to care at home?

Riban, like many other knitted fabrics, belongs to the category of fairly unpretentious materials and does not require any special conditions of washing and storage. However, some general recommendations must still be observed. This will help to preserve the color of the product as long as possible and prolong its service life. With hand washing, long friction should be avoided, and with machine washing it is better to use the “Delicate wash”, “Synthetic fabrics” or “Quick wash” modes. Despite the fact that the main part of the fabric is cotton, the mode intended for washing cotton fabrics is not recommended. The optimum temperature for both hand and machine wash is 30 degrees. As a detergent, it is desirable to use a soap solution or laundry detergent for children's clothes or delicate fabrics.

It is advisable to spin the products at medium speeds, and when hand washing it is not necessary to unscrew it too much. In this case, it is better to slightly squeeze the product, and then blot it with a dry soft towel. Due to the fact that the knitwear dries long enough, the best place to dry will be fresh air. However, when hanging clothes on the street, you need to remember that ribana is prone to fading in the sun, so in order to avoid rapid loss of color, it is recommended to hang clothes in the shade. If you can not hang out the clothes in a shaded place, you can turn it inside out.

It will also help to preserve the color and brightness of the image from the front. Drying of turtlenecks, T-shirts, sports suits and sundresses should be carried out on a horizontal surface, previously covered with a soft cloth. Otherwise, things can stretch, twist and lose their original shape. Drying clothes from ribana on radiators is strictly prohibited.

Ironing things from ribana is recommended by a moderately heated iron.that usually corresponds to two points on its controller. Ironing should be done on the reverse side using a moderate steaming. For everyday and sportswear items, vertical ironing and steaming on weight is well suited. This will help to iron the product more qualitatively and protect the ribana fibers from the aggressive effects of high temperatures.

Regular and proper care, as well as careful and careful attitude to clothes can significantly extend the life of your favorite things, made of this convenient and practical material.
