Numerous studies indicate that fat in combination with multilayer carbon deposits is one of the causes of some diseases, including oncological ones. The effect of this factor on the body is associated with slow poisoning and disturbances in the functioning of the internal organs of a person. It is for this reason that the topic under discussion becomes relevant.

Why is it hard to remove a carbon layer?

Fat, food and other residues on the elements of the gas stove and dishes under the influence of temperature are transformed into stubborn carbon. This hot conglomerate exudes carcinogens that are harmful to human health.

The soot layer remains on the grill after each use of the slab, and if it is not washed away immediately, the layers gradually form an unpleasant, multi-layered, tough and durable crust. Particles of soot literally eats into the metal. This is what creates known problems with the cleaning of certain types of dishes and gas grills.

Nagar not only spoils the appearance of the grill, exudes an unpleasant odor that adversely affects the health, but also destroys the metal, changing its heat-conducting properties, and therefore affects the quality of cooked food.

Taking into account the fact that the grids for gas stoves are made of different metals (steel with enamel coating, cast iron, stainless steel), which have different physicochemical properties and react differently to the formation of soot, different methods and means are used to clean them.

Cleaning grates from different materials

Cleaning the cast iron grate

Cast iron is a heavy and brittle metal that is afraid of water and retains heat well. Clean it with care. Treatments include, for example:

  1. Calcination. It is safer to incinerate in fresh air or at home by opening the windows and turning on the ventilation, because toxins evaporate during burnout. The product is held over the fire, from time to time turning it over until the main part of the soot does not burn out. The remaining dirt is removed with a damp cloth;
  2. Compositions for cleaning motor vehicles. The carbon deposit is quickly removed on application of the surface, the quality of the cast iron does not suffer from such an operation;
  3. Remove carbon from the surface of the lattice can be using metal brushes or special nozzles on the drill. It is not recommended to constantly use this method, because during this procedure, the upper layers of the material are erased.

Stainless steel grate cleaning

Stainless steel - high strength and resistant to chemicals and abrasives material for cleaning which use a variety of methods and aggressive substances:

  • Mechanical methods. Cleaning is done with river sand, soda or metal brushes. The metal is wetted and then the time required for cleaning is processed. Microdiagnostics do not affect the quality of stainless steel;
  • Independent production of cleansing pastes. Recipes:
    1. about one hundred grams of laundry powder should be diluted with ammonia (30 ml), then the material should be coated with this compound and allowed to stand for 15-20 minutes, then the product should be washed;
    2. soda ash mixed with hydrogen peroxide to the state of liquid porridge, which, and scour the grid with a coarse sponge, then wash off the dirt in running water;
    3. dilute mustard powder with vinegar (9%) in approximately equal proportions, add a small amount of dishwashing liquid to the composition. Apply the obtained gruel on the cleaned area for 20 minutes, then rinse with hot water using a sponge;
  • Use a paste of the following composition: stationery glue (50 ml), soda (150 grams), laundry detergent or some other detergent (50-60 grams). Mix the parts with this thick composition to cover the product. When dried, the composition becomes transparent and is easily washed off in hot water along with carbon deposits.

For cleaning stainless steel has proven itself Activated carbon. For this paste is prepared from crushed coal and water, which is applied to the grid for 20-25 minutes. After this, the soot is easily washed off with warm water.

Cleaning enamelled grate

Products with an enamel coating, as a rule, are lightweight, durable, however they are extremely chipping and sensitive to chemicals. Therefore, methods for removing carbon from them should be gentle:

  • Soak the grate overnight in a few liters of concentrated soap solution. After that the carbon is removed with a sponge and hot water;
  • Use melamine sponges - the latest tool for cleaning dirt. They are made from a special resin, which, after a special technology, gets abrasive properties. Melamine sponges do not damage the product, and due to their relative softness they effectively clean the surface.

To universal cleaning methods applicable to different metals, conventionally include:

  • the laundry soap dissolved in warm water;
  • citric acid;
  • acetic essence;
  • ammonia or ammonia-anisic drops;
  • baking soda.

Folk remedies

The disadvantages of chemical detergents are known to all. It is for this reason that many housewives give preference to old and proven folk remedies, which, with a competent approach, can provide not the worst, but safe for health result.

Boiling

Boiling in the oven is carried out in the following way:

  • Five tablespoons of soda (per ten liters of water), a grated piece of soap and a grated apple are added to a large container with water.
  • Soda, due to its acidic properties, has excellent cleaning properties.
  • Malic acid gives the surface a glossy shine.
  • After immersing the grate in the solution, boil for a long time, then remove the residue of carbon and wipe dry.

There is a simpler way: the grid is placed on a baking sheet and placed in the oven for 30 minutes (maximum burning mode). Nagar after such boiling is removed easily.

Ammonia

In cases where the grill is heavily soiled, you can wash it with ammonia:

  1. To do this, you need to use a roomy bag with a secure latch or a sturdy garbage bag, place the grate in it and spray ammonia in the bag.
  2. In order to evenly distribute ammonia, a closed bag with contents must be turned over several times.
  3. To sustain a long time grid in it (5-8 hours). During this time, the carbon will dissolve, leaving dark-brown slurry, and the grate will be clean.
  4. Then it should be rinsed in water with a hard side of a sponge and wipe dry.

Since ammonia evaporates easily, it is better to carry out this procedure in the fresh air with gloves, with a respirator, and soak the lattice in a tightly closed container.

Mustard powder

Mustard powder is a proven and productive way to cleanse body fat and soot from household items. For this you need:

  • to cover the grate with a powder with a slightly damp cloth;
  • place it in a large container and hold for 2-3 hours;
  • in the future, wash the grate with warm water using a sponge.

You can prepare a composition that includes mustard powder and water, cover the grid with it and put it in a garbage bag, tightly tied it. Maintain the construction in the bag for 3-4 hours, after which the pollution is removed with a sponge and hot water.

Household soap and stationery glue

The cast iron grill is fairly easy to wash off carbon with soap and clerical glue:

  • Fill a large container with water (about ten liters), add grated soap (about two thirds of a piece), add about 150 milliliters of glue to the process of mixing and dissolving the soap;
  • Boil the solution and then, placing the grid in it, boil on low heat for 1-2 hours;
  • Remove the grate and place, without letting it cool down, in water;
  • Then for more effect you can use a melamine sponge. The method is time-consuming, but effective.

Baking soda

Soda, like mustard, has long been used to clean contaminated surfaces. The cleaning procedure is as follows:

  • Place the grid in standard sizes durable trash or other bag;
  • Pour 500 grams of soda there and add water. Close the bag tightly and then shake it several times;
  • Maintain the product in the package for 2-3 hours, from time to time turning it over;
  • Remove the grate and rinse it thoroughly with water with a sponge.

Another way is to dilute the soda with warm water to a slurry. Cover the grill with this gruel and leave for 40-50 minutes. This time is enough for the soda to react with the carbon and to a large extent soften it. Then you should clean the grill with a coarse and then soft side of the sponge.

Silicate glue and laundry powder

The composition of silicate glue and powder for washing is an old method that effectively helps to clean the surfaces of products from grease and carbon deposits. In this case, you should stir about 40 ml of glue in 500 ml of warm water, add about 150 grams of laundry detergent. Place the product in a capacious plastic bag and hold it there for 4-5 hours.

After that, do not forget to rinse the product with a household sponge in hot water.

Soda and Vinegar

A good solution to clean the product will help and a solution of vinegar and soda:

  • Fill a suitable container with medium temperature water;
  • Pour about 250 grams of soda and about 250 grams of vinegar (9%) into the container;
  • Place the product to be cleaned in the container and keep it in the solution for 2-4 hours, and then rinse thoroughly.

Such a solution is effective for particularly contaminated surfaces. Soaking time is determined depending on the degree of contamination of the product.

Chemicals

Of chemical cleaning agents, perhaps the best effect can be achieved with the help of such compounds as Sif, Sanita, Shumanit, AmWay, Oxyday, Primalux other. These substances, according to the attached instructions, are easy to use. The principle of their use is simple - the substance is applied to the surface to be cleaned, then a pause of several hours is maintained, after which the dissolved carbon is removed with an economic sponge.

Usually the manufacturer of such products makes a special mark on the packaging. "Antizhir". However, in the selection process it is extremely important to consider the material of the product being processed. So, for stainless steel produce special gentle substances that preserve their high-quality appearance.

Chemical compositions also differ in their consistency - gel, in the form of sprays and other types.

Of the popular and well-known are known:

  • Cleansing cream Sif. Universal remedy suitable for various surfaces. Contains microgranules of minerals and biological additives that break down grease, carbon and rust, while maintaining the surface of the product. The cream is economically consumed and applied with a sponge. Then the composition is rubbed and kept for 10-15 minutes. Then wash off with the remnants of soot;
  • Sanita. Alkaline based product, suitable for all types of coating.Does not damage the surface, does not leave any scratches. It is produced in the form of gels and sprays. Able to decompose fat in a few minutes. In addition, Sanita cream has a disinfecting effect, economical;
  • Shumanit. Production Israel. It softens pollution well, but can negatively affect the skin and respiratory organs. The composition is applied in a thick layer on the grid, which is then placed in a sealed bag overnight. Then the soot is washed off with a soft sponge;
  • AmWay. Effective and safe gel, without abrasive inclusions. Universal cleaner, removes old and deep dirt from various metals without damaging them. The soot softened with this composition is removed with an economic sponge. Excellent tool, but with a high price tag;
  • Cillit bang. This powerful tool is effective for removing fat deposits and soft soot. Does not contain abrasive inclusions. After application, it is aged for 15-20 minutes, and then washed off. Represents the middle price category of cleansing agents on the market;
  • Paste Astonish. Carefully and reliably cleans old pollution. Contains active ingredients - sodium silicate, as well as soft abrasive inclusions.
  • Primalux. Its use depends on the type and quality of contamination. Able to successfully clean the carbon. It is diluted with water in the proportions specified in the instruction. The concentration of the agent is chosen in a practical way depending on the nature of the pollutants to be removed. Can be used in a closed-loop cleaning system. Application in hot water significantly increases the cleaning efficiency. It is applied to the surface with a brush;
  • Oxyday. Ecologically safe remedy from organic components for deep cleaning. After being applied to the surface, the composition processes organic fat layers. In addition to deep cleaning, it also destroys pathogenic bacteria, acts as a natural disinfector.

For the rapid dissolution of contaminants, acid and alkaline compounds, as well as other aggressive elements are often included in the composition of chemical cleaning agents. Therefore, in the course of working with chemical compounds, it is important to adhere to safety rules:

  • It is necessary to work in rubber gloves;
  • It is important to use a respirator, since some components in the composition of cleaning products affect not only the product being cleaned, but also the person, his skin and respiratory organs;
  • During the cleaning procedure, various impurities appear in the air. Therefore, the process is better to carry out in a well-ventilated area. It is better to remove children and animals from the place of cleaning at this time.

Effective ways

The use of household appliances is one of the simplest and most productive methods of cleaning and washing the iron grid of a gas stove at home. The dishwasher is suitable for this, if the grill is small or dismantled into pieces and easily placed in the dishwasher. The mode of the machine in this case is set the longest, at the maximum temperature. In the case of fresh soot, the grill will be cleaned quickly. Many years of soot soften, and it can be cleaned with an economic sponge.

In the presence of a household steamer, the grate is placed in a vertical position and a stream of steam is directed at it within a few minutes. When the carbon is softened, it can be scrubbed with a cloth or a household sponge using detergent.

However, the most effective way to clean the grill from grease and other dirt is to quickly wash it immediately after the first plaque appears. This procedure is the easiest and simple.

The method of calcination is perfect for cleaning iron and steel products. To do this, the grid is placed above the fire and held, turning, until the shedding of burnt pieces of soot and old fat layers. Remnants of dirt are removed with a brush and wiped with a slightly damp cloth.

Products made of cast iron should not be washed with water.. At home, you can calcine the grill above the stove, creating good conditions for ventilating the room (put the hood to the maximum power level and open the windows). Safe, harmless and effective means of cleaning is the complex composition of soda, mustard powder, salt and vinegar (mixed in equal proportions).

The mixture is applied to the surface of the product and aged for 3-4 hours, then the grill is washed and wiped dry with a cloth.

How to prevent pollution?

To facilitate the cleaning process it is largely necessary to perform a few simple rules:

  • Clean the grilles and the stove regularly after use;
  • Clean the grate every week. A good cleaning method is to immerse the product in a soapy solution at night, after which it is necessary to wipe it dry, since it is the wet surface that is more intensively coated with grease and dirt.

Compliance with these simple rules will well serve the preservation of health, significantly save time and money.

Not recommended:

  • soak hot products immediately after the food is cooked - a significant temperature difference distorts the metal structure;
  • Sand cast iron gratings made in China. These grids are made from the so-called white cast iron, which has the lowest strength characteristics of all its types.

We must remember that ordinary sand is rich in various types of microorganisms and bacteria. Cleaned objects with sand should be thoroughly washed, or rather just use a safe abrasive, for example, soda or other means.
