Jeans - a thing truly universal. They are not only incredibly convenient and practical, but also able to serve us for a few more years, after a fair amount of wear. What just did not come up with people doing old jeans! Shorts, skirts, bags, children's clothes - and that's not all, because the imagination of needlewomen knows no boundaries.

Today we will tell you about how to turn old jeans into original jumpsuit. Overalls are comfortable clothes for summer, which is loved by both adult girls and the smallest women of fashion. Our tips will help you to make a pattern, sew and decorate the jumpsuit so that it looked like a stylish designer thing.

What is the best pattern to take?

If you are an experienced seamstress, you can make the pattern yourself, as it is quite simple. We advise novice needlewomen to use any pattern from the magazine for cutting and sewing. A huge number of such patterns can be found on the Internet, on specialized sites dedicated to needlework.

You will need to prepare the following details:

  • yoke (4 pieces);
  • lower parts of the bodice (4 pieces);
  • facing upper cut;
  • patch pockets (optional).

Master class on sewing

Consider the process of sewing overalls from old jeans on the example of a children's model. If you are not confident in your own abilities, it is recommended to start learning new techniques from children's things, since they will take less materials and time.

For the work we need:

  • jeans;
  • material for the top (this can be denim or any other dense fabric);
  • thread to match;
  • cutting scissors;
  • chalk or remnant;
  • a set of pins for grinding;
  • tape measure;
  • sewing machine;
  • decorations for the decor.

Working process:

  • The selected pattern is transferred to the fabric and cut out all the details.
  • Stitch together the details of the front of two: a yoke sew to the bottom. If you want to complement the overalls patch pockets and loops, you need to sew them at this stage of work.
  • Further along the same principle we sew the back parts together.
  • Now you need to connect the two halves of the suit. We grind them along the side seams, then we sew on a typewriter.
  • At the bottom edge of the front cut sew a stitched cuff of another material. If the main material of the product is not jeans, the trim should be made of denim.
  • We sew step seams. To make the jumpsuit look more effective, try to make a line similar to the one that makes jeans manufacturers.
  • The next step is sew the parts of the jumpsuit along the seam of the seat. In front of the left 10 cm free. Seam allowances are overlaid, then we smooth them out from behind and smooth them in front.
  • Then go to the straps. We will sew them from denim. We will sew the straps to the back, and fasten special fasteners to the front.
  • Now, with the help of pre-prepared facing, we connect the parts of the front and rear parts along the side seams. We do overlaying the side seams, cuts of fasteners and bottom of the facing.
  • We sew front fastener sections, while leaving 10 cm free as before. Smooth allowances.
  • Next we pin on those sewing needles the parts that were left unstitched: straps and facing. Sew them to the jumpsuit on a sewing machine.
  • We turn the facing inside out, we sweep it manually, then we make a finishing line on the typewriter. The overalls are ready!

By following this instruction, you can also sew an adult model.But for her, it is better to take denim as a basis, and make additional elements from auxiliary material.

Decor

Jumpsuit made from old jeans can be decorated to your liking. If we are talking about a children's model, then unusual buttons, beads, patches, applications, thermo-stickers and other bright decorations that children like so much can be chosen as decorative elements.

A jumpsuit for an adult girl requires a completely different decor. Those who wish to follow modern fashion trends can complement the jumpsuit with scuffs and tears.

About how to artificially age the thing out of denim, we have already told in the article "How to make leaky jeans at home?".

Also look good denim overalls with inserts from other materials. It is better to choose a fabric that is very different in texture from the product itself, for example, elegant lace or rough skin.

Tips

  • If you or your child suddenly become a little short jeans with an elastic band, you can make them a jumpsuit with trousers-shorts. To do this, you only need to trim the trouser legs, sew the breast to the front upper part of the jeans and attach the straps to the clasps to it. The breast can be sewn from any fabric, and on the straps to take the material from the cropped leg.
  • If you are a fan of bold decor, we can advise to color denim overalls in bright colors. To do this, it is not necessary to use special dyes for textiles, any means that are not washable with water and are safe for the skin, for example, markers or water-based paint will do.
