The more the future mother’s tummy is rounded, the more the number of favorite dresses that have been collecting dust for some time increases.
But pregnancy is a time of positive emotions, joy, love and new, necessarily beautiful and comfortable dresses. So there is nothing to be sad about old things and create new ones with your own hands.

Styles

Many future mothers are wondering about the fashion for pregnant women, because not everything that is offered in the stores is to the taste or afford.

Styles and silhouettes are not out of fashion. Colors, prints, elements (sleeves, skirt, bodice) of unusual cut, asymmetry, decoration or blending of styles change periodically.

Dresses for pregnant women can be divided into several types:

  • with high waist;
  • low waist;
  • dress bag;
  • trapezium;
  • case;
  • sundress.

The first type includes models:

  • in the Empire style;
  • wrap dresses;
  • combined with a detachable bodice.
  • dresses, tunics;
  • greek

The last two styles are with low waist.

Features

Simple models of dresses for pregnant women do not require large sewing skills, some even do not need a pattern, since the number of stitches is minimal.

For their decoration, you can use lace, embroidery, ribbons, bows. However, these elements will help to hide the error in case anything happens.

Difficulties may arise with tipping, drapery, tucks, and patterns with many details.

Pregnancy is not the time when you can save on fabric. It should be natural and pleasant to the touch, be sure to fit the season.

When choosing a matter, it is important to pay attention to its structure, flowability. Strongly crumbling edges will complicate the sewing of a dress and spoil the nerves. Well, if the fabric stretches a bit, then the fit will be perfect.

If the choice falls on the fabric with a floral or any other print, then it is important to follow the direction of the pattern. For the first dress it may seem difficult, and then it is better to choose a single-colored fabric or stitch a sundress-razdelayku.

It is recommended to follow the tips on placing the pattern on the fabric if it is taken from a magazine. It also reduces the consumption of material.

Without a pattern

Greek dress

Gentle and airy dress in the Greek style can be made very quickly according to the principle of "wrapped and tied around with a belt".

  • The straps or shoulder straps are chopped off with pins or brooches.
  • Ribbon, belt also secured under the breast.
  • Now it remains to distribute the folds, it is advisable to call someone to help and to get the details out.

Summer sundress

There is another interesting way to quickly sew a sundress.

You will need about 4 meters of thick fabric, for example jersey, and woven belts. For them, you need 2 long sections 2.5 cm wide.

Take the mannequin and wrap the fabric:

  • Put the left edge behind the right shoulder and attach on the neck, forming a drapery, and the right edge - behind the left and also attach. You can call a girlfriend for help and model the dress directly on yourself;
  • cut each piece for a belt into 2 pieces and intertwine with each other with a pigtail.

Be sure to do the fitting, so that the drapery covers the right places and is not uncomfortable. Landing should be perfect.

Make a loop and sew in the middle of the back. Sew the braids to the edges of the drapery, interlacing them between each other, stretch them into a loop and try them on again, tying the belt in front.

Simple pattern

Building a pattern is not required. Just take the fabric, preferably knitted, drawing paper or wallpaper and accessories for sewing.

  1. Sweater or sleeveless T-shirt circle on paper. Make the length to your liking. Optionally, you can carve out the sleeve, using the usual pattern. Just make sure that the sleeves fit the armhole.
  2. Cut out the pattern, apply it to the fabric folded in half, and circle with soap or chalk.
  3. At the waist of the product mark.
  4. On the sides of the front of the top of the label stitch up to 25-30 cm and pull a little.
  5. Open the neck and armholes with a bake or make a hem of 1.5 cm, and then lay 2 lines. Make a bottom hem.
  6. Sew back and before.

Cocktail

Being in position, giving up parties is not worth it. In this case, it is worth making a bright bustier dress. The bow will make the outfit more elegant and support the chest, and the folds will stretch the figure.

The advantage of this model is the ability to use it as a skirt after childbirth.

We need 2 rectangular cuts:

  • One is for the dress, 65 cm long. The width is determined by the circumference of the abdomen multiplied by 1.4.
  • The second is for a bow, 40 cm wide and with a length equal to two widths of the dress.

The sewing process is simple:

  1. Bow fold in half and sew.
  2. Form the folds at the top of the cut for the dress.
  3. Turn over side cuts.
  4. Sew a bow.
  5. Make a bottom hem.

Everyday dress

For everyday life fit model with a floral print and a three-quarter sleeve.

  1. Take the classic dress pattern.
  2. Lift the waist line by 10-15 cm, and remove the tuck.
  3. The line from the shoulder seam, on the sides of the tuck and to its upper point, make smooth.

Separately, we model the side of the front:

  • At the level of the first line of the waist, make a dilution of 3-4 cm.
  • On the side slice draw a smooth line.
  • Tape the hem by 2 cm.

The cuts of the side and middle parts of the shelf must match. Perhaps due to breeding will have to increase the length of the middle part.

Modeling the middle part:

  • Separate the yoke from the skirt, cutting off along the waistline,
  • Finish the belt 1.5 - 2 cm wide.
  • Make the neck deeper.
  • On the middle part of the skirt, shape the fold.

Model the back according to the pattern.

Sleeve make the desired length and remove the elbow dart.

The stitches for grinding the sleeves should be the same, and the line of the lower cut should be smooth.

Dig out the details and do not forget to add allowances for all cuts - 1 cm, and for bending of the bottom - 3-4 cm.

Short front long back

Dress high-low is also made on the basis of the-pattern.

  1. Close the chest dart and transfer it to the tack.
  2. For flaking hem, add 6 cm.
  3. At the back, extend the hem by 10 cm and round.
  4. Make piping for armholes and necks.

Draw a triangular inset on a separate sheet, the length is equal to the segment AB, and 30 cm wide. Round the hem.

Cutting

Cut out the following parts:

  • 2 children before;
  • 2 children back;
  • 1 child triangular insert;
  • The openings of the armhole and neck, which should be duplicated with thermo-fabric.

Do not forget about seam allowances.

Sewing

  1. Stitch the insert to the sides of the front of the dress.
  2. Lay the folds on the back parts.
  3. Stitch all seams.
  4. In the middle seam of the back stitch a secret zipper.
  5. Piping handle neck with armholes.
  6. Sew shoulder seams.
  7. Make a bottom hem.

Dress A-line

From light chiffon you can make elegant dresses for pregnant women, such as a trapeze dress.

It is sewn easily by changing a little pattern-base.

And finally, an interesting video.

As you can see, you can easily sew a dress for pregnant women without effort. The most important thing is desire, and everything will work out for you!
