Dresses in national motives are now highly demanded by fashionistas. And among them, the Chinese dress, which is called qipao, stands out with its special attractiveness and graceful lines.

Features

The dress-cipao, the second name of which is cheongsam, is an outfit of a style dress-case, which has a slanting clasp on the chest. In addition, this dress traditionally has a stand-up collar.

A bit of history

The dress of this style was originally worn manchur. This outfit was distinguished by a loose cut, high collar, floor length and long sleeves. Such clothes hid almost all of its owner, leaving only her head, socks on her feet and fingers in her eyes.

After the end of the Qing Dynasty, Western fashion influenced Chinese national dress. This changed the cheongsam cut, making the outfit more open as well as narrow. The dress-cipao acquired a tight-fitting silhouette, and in order to make it easier to move around, a rather deep slit appeared on the side of the dress.

The sleeves of the product also narrowed and became more varied in length (the qipao began sewing three-quarters with the sleeve and with shorter sleeves). The length of the dress itself also became different - now you can see both long models and short qipao dresses. From the old version, the cheongsam has only a collar, although it has become lower, and an asymmetrical buckle has appeared.

The first dresses of qipao were solemn and elegant, but since the 60s of the twentieth century, Hong Kong women began to wear such dresses as a uniform, working in the service sector.

The outfit's popularity rose after Hong Kong teamed up with China. Cheongs are now worn on a solemn occasion, and every day. In this style you can see business dresses and home clothes, but more often they are elegant items made from expensive fabrics.

Who is going to?

The dress-cipao is not suitable for all girls because of the characteristics of their cut:

  • Best of all, such an outfit looks on a figure similar to an hourglass.
  • If the girl is low, she should not wear a long dress-cheongsam.
  • With a short neck, the collar of such a dress should be low, and with a long neck, a high collar looks better.
  • To emphasize beautiful hands, pick up a product with short sleeves.
  • Wide-shouldered girls should pay attention to the silk dress-cipao, and on the “rectangle” figure products made of heavy and dense fabric look better.
  • Pretty women with a “triangle” figure are recommended to wear cheongsam a bit longer than her knees.
  • It is possible to emphasize a big breast with a monochromatic tsipao-dress.

What to wear?

When choosing a qipao for a celebration, you should pick up suitable jewelry and other accessories for this.

  • Under such a dress is best to wear bodystockings.
  • The best shoes for Cheongs are classic shoes with a medium heel.
  • Beads and other ornaments on the neck with such a dress are not worn.
  • Earrings for this outfit fit any, but they should not be too large.
  • On hand, you can wear a bracelet to match the color of the dress or its decoration, pattern.
  • Choose a small bag or clutch in addition to this one.
